Amazing this child was allowed to actually give birth, and wasn't forced to have an abortion--I'm stunned!
I am curious as to whether or not the perpetrator was a complete stranger or if he was an acquaintance of the victim. Because if this had happened in USSR-Washington State (where I live) and he was a complete stranger, his punishment would be less than if he was an acquaintance.

Agreed! If there was ever an argument for abortion, this is it. Very sad that she was allowed to have this baby.
this would be the only justification for an abortion, but even then, I still think that it is best not to put a 10 year old girl thru the trauma of an abortion.
Not that child birth is a picnic, mind you. Still, it is the better alternative.
You misunderstood me—I am 100% *against* abortion, for ANY reason. It is by the grace of God that this child is alive!
God must have special plans for him/her.
And the story doesn’t clarify if she will get to keep the baby—maybe she has a very supportive family that is going to help raise the baby. Prayers for the poor ‘mother’ in her and the baby’s future.

Things are very different now, it is not at all uncommon for 9 and 10 year old girls to have periods. I think it is due to the hormones in so much of the meat. I just wonder what the long term results of such early maturity will be.

Things have changed for some reason. It happens but it’s still pretty rare for that age.

My mom started at 9, I started at 9. My daughter started 2 months after turning 10. Some families do menstruate earlier, some later. My family also goes through menapause about years earlier than most.
