Just so it does not go unanswered:
our kid calls every morning on his way to work, on a cell phone, and all ten numbers show up brightly across the TV screen.

It’s the area code that’s meaningless with cell phones. People carry them with them all over the place. If I’m out of state and witness a crime and call it in, it will show up as an out of state number.

That doesn’t invalidate the call.

Just so it does not go unanswered:

You kid hasn’t figured out, or has no reason, to have the display on your TV screen say UNKNOWN CALLER.

It’s real easy. You just go to your main menu, and options.... and... Well, each phone is different, but the choice is there.

In my plumbing repair business, cell phone area codes don’t mean anything.

I have learned that my customers may have area codes from from anywhere in the nation although of course their home address is local to me.
