Yes, the separation of powers and legal process are cornerstones of United States political reality thanks to the American Revolution which overthrew royal callousness to the sanctity of human life.

You in one of the thirteen colonies understand this, as do I as a descendant of one who fought King George.

We, you and I, understand that "we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are LIFE. . . ."

Prayer, as you recommend, instructs me that civil servants--Jeb Bush would be one--often sacrifice human life for political expediency.

Surely Loren Ritchardsen [sic] will not suffer such a fate at your hands.

And it is the sentences in the Declaration of Independence that follow this and are far less known, but equally as powerful, that give us a course of action (added emphasis is mine):

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
