I wouldn’t neccessarily agree.
I can’t think of any human being who seeing a dog coming at them in attack mode who would not defend themselves from it, instinctively. To presume from that the person would inately keep firing at human being is a bit of a leap of logic.
Expecting someone to just take a dog attack because a police man ordered them too is rediculous.

So then...you would argue that someone will defend themselves, instinctively, against a dog attack, but that an officer who just saw a suspect fire a gun in his/her direction should....what? Stand down and know that he isn't next?!
The dog is irrelevant. The suspect (who the cops were called to look for b/c of gun fire in the area) pulled a gun out after the police told him to raise his freaking hands. Raise your freaking hands and we can talk....pull out a gun and you are going to be shot. duh.

All the perp had to do is show his hands as police ordered and the dog would have never attacked. Quite simple really. I bet he did not have a permit for the gun either

A police dog ordered to attack because I have, presumably, not complied with police orders...unlikely.

Once the punk pulled the gun all bets were off. The cop didn’t have the time or obligation to make any fine distinctions.
