If these dopes wanted to get re-elected they should stop spending like drunken sailors and bring up oil drilling on ANWAR and OffShore every day.

And with all the hallmarks of a Bob Michel fight for control of Congress. The GOP is now the Party of Bobs Boobs.
There, fixed it.

Our choices are a democrat and a democrat. For some reason, theres a lot of people on FR that think McCain is practically God on Earth because he has an R next to his name.
Many are still in denial that McCain considered jumping parties in 00 and again in 04 with his outreach to Kerry to be Kerry's VP.
Point them to links and references, and they still keep their head buried in the sand.
They respond back that McCain is now on records in favor of yada yada yada. [The problem with that is McCain's history of be eratic and unpredictable. He has lost credibility. He still pushes for amnesty, for example, even after saying he wouldn't and that he never called it amnesty -- even with video/audio of him saying amnesty.]

You have a valid point. I can't believe those on our side who will concede anything to a RAT.
This is lunacy. Why would Republicans be worried about losing to RATS? The only answer would be that we have an electorate so stupid they can't figure out that these high energy prices are the fault of Democrats who do everything they can to prevent us from having more supply.
RATS are so stupid they believe that a "windfall profit tax" will help drive down the price of gasoline when in fact it will do just the opposite. Think gasoline is too cheap? Elect RATS.
To: Rodm
They can’t.
The Democrats will call them mean names and they live in fear of that.

Isn't that the way of all politicians? Dig a deep hole and then claim to have the solution? From my observations it goes like this: Dig a deep hole with failed policies you previously endorsed, then claim you have absolutely no responsibility for those failed policies or the aftermath, then claim to have the solution to the problems you previously created, all while voting for a regular and substantial pay raises and other bennies like leased Cadillacs, cradle to grave health care for you and your spouse, along with your full salary until you breathe your last, and, of course, you pass legislation that makes your political foundations and slush funds legal because this is where you launder all your ill gotten gains from lobbyists. All this is done on the backs of the American tax payers.
That is modern politics in a nutshell. Did I miss anything?

People here need to chill out. We won some recent house elections in VA and OH and lost others. It was just a couple years ago that the Democratic Party was ‘dead’. Now, it is the GOP. We have cycles out all of our recent leadership with the departure of Delay and Hastert. A new group will rise soon.
Neither party is going to die, there is not going to be one party. We may or may not lose seats in Nov - I would predict a slight loss in both houses this round. Thing is, most districts are strongly Dem or Rep and we lost a whole bunch of the swing districts in ‘06 that we had held for a decade or more. We have good candidates running in a number of districts, including some honorable Iraq veterans. We’ll win some of those back and probably lose some others.
The Presidential race will dominate this cycle and what happens in the House will reflect that. If Obama wins the primary, some sectors of Dem voters will not be out in force for the Dems this time.
It is too early to tell anything. 2006 was a reflection of the publics changing opinion of Bush. He is not on the ballot this time, so the race will about different issues than 2006.

Every time I see Pelosi leading Gingrinch around by the nose in that commercial, I realize how low the Republican party has fallen.
Expect to see a lot of that commercial between now and November. It is one of the most effective tools the Democrats have against the Republicans and Conservatives. Gingrinch failed when he had the chance to lead. His media-pandering embrace of Global Warming and the Demcraps show just how desperate he is to get back in the limelight, and how stupid it would be to take any of his advice seriously.

The end result of all this is that there are simply too many people dependent on government now for conservatives to make their case. One of the few statements here in FR that makes any sense. We have Freepers who believe that because Republicans aren't conservative enough, we should elect Democrats. That will fix it.

Newt Gingrich, warned his old colleagues that they face real disaster on Election Day unless they move immediately to chart a bold course of real reform for the country.... a top House Republican brushed aside Gingrichs broadside as hype from a has-been who desperately wants to be a player but cant anymore,This Republican thinks exactly the opposite: the party is lost unless Newt is returned to a position of deserved leadership.
I'd happily dump the so-called "Social Conservatives" and "Values Voters" and the other destructive Evangelical factions to return the party to one of conservative (and not religious) principles and values.
Barry Goldwater predicted that the Religionists would destroy conservatism, the Republican Party, and maybe American politics altogether.
And here we are, with McCrazy leading our party and movement.

When the GOP had complete control of government it did not solve a single national problem. Instead, it grew government worse than any Democrat, spent worse than any Democrat, and added more welfare dependents than any Democrat.
Another statistic many ignore is in regard to the Supreme Court nominations. They set great store in a few conservative nominations. They ignore that all (13 in number) but 2 (Clinton appointees) of the SCJ's appointed since LBJ/1969 were appointed by Republicans. The Republicans don't have that stellar of a record, even appointing SC justices.
[s] Oh, but they had to compromise because the mean ole Dems yada yada yada even when the GOP had majorities in BOTH Chambers. [/s]

We need somebody who can LEAD to come up with another ‘contract with America’ that everyone can get behind. First on the list should be legislation to make it easier to start drilling in our own country, the country with more oil than all the Middle East combined. Get approval for gasification of coal plants to be built, approve new refineries, and nuclear power plants. All of that would have immediate effects on getting the OPEC nations to increase production, and drop the price dramatically. Pie in the sky ‘alternative’ energy is decades off at best. There is no substitute for the power of oil.

Only one thing-—allow massive illegal immigration by supporting total amnesty and tell people that”these are all God’s children and we have a responsibility to care for them and to help them”. Juan McCain 5/5/08.

It seems to me that socialists disguised as conservatives have done the damage. Religion has nothing to do with it, it’s a willingness among Republicans to expand government.

Right. Let's have Gingrich do some global warming commercials with Pelosi /extreme sarcasm Pardon me, but your ignorance is showing.
You don't understand Newt's position on "global warming" at all, do you.

Theyare going to learn some hard lessons come November.
Don't bet on it. I thought, for sure, they would learn after their 06 slaughter. They didn't. Instead, they gave us John McCain for 08. Recent articles have indicated that they expect even more House/Senate loses in 08.
