Prayers for Mrs. Don-o and you and your family.

My wife Mrs. Don-o is having gastric bypass surgery on Thursday, May 8. If all goes well, she should be discharged on Saturday.
She is very confident in the surgeon, who has done over 1800 of these operations (four hour procedure). She is doing all the research possible on her own and expects do fabulously.
The hope is for almost instant relief from diabetes and three or four related co-morbidities. The major post-op risk, statistically, is pulmonary embolism. In her case, this risk is mitigated by the fact that she's been walking and exercising a whole lot, but exacerbated by the fact that she has a presently incurable and progressive form of COPD (rheumatoid-related bronchiolitis.)
She says if y'all would pray for her she'll breathe a lot easier (!) Thanks, everybody.

Yes, they’re slicing off 100 cm of duodenum. That’s over a yard! And yes, it’s that (for whatever reason) that causes, for most, a complete reversal of diabetes.

BTW - brother-in-law had this surgery two years ago - absolutely incredible results - but be prepared for dramatic changes in dietary habits - some things she liked before will cause ‘unsettling’ of her stomach.

Prayers for your wife. I’m sure she will do fine. So many have had that same surgery. Just do what is required and follow the rules. Good luck to her. I know this will make her happy and hope it all works for you.
