Did you know jumbo eggs come from the oldest hens? Medium eggs come from the youngest and I assume most drug free chickens, and are cheaper too.
No, I didn’t know that jumbo eggs came from the oldest hens. Yet another little gem to learn today. Once again, the knowlege I get from FR is quite amazing.
Last year, I got a carton of jumbo eggs from the store where I always buy eggs. In this one carton, 11 of the 12 eggs were all three-yoke eggs. At the time, I was eating three eggs per day. Seeing three triple yoke eggs in the skillet had me running for the camera. For the next few days, I took pictures of these triple yoked eggs. I kept thinking, “what are the odds of this happening”? Since then, when I buy eggs from this store, I always check first to see if the eggs are cracked. In reality, I’m looking for a carton with bigger than jumbo eggs. Haven’t had a tripled yoke egg since. I’ve still got the pictures.
