I know a couple of Dilliard grads and can just imagine.I taught at Carver Senior High during the time you speak of and even in the heart of the Ninth Ward ghetto,you had the “color struck”Negroes turning there noses up at the thought of mingling with those”project n******”.
The irony was that my five brightest students during my first year were VERY dark skinned and the majority of my “problem”kids were of fairer complexion.
