The AFL-CIO is sending out mail attacking John McCain, according to the Hotline. To whom?
The piece has been sent so far this cycle to more than 400,000 swing voters, notably those much-courted Reagan Democrats living in OH, WI, MI and MN.
Note that "Democrats" are swing voters. These "swing voters" are Hillary Clinton primary voters. These are people who have a high likelihood of becoming McCain voters.
AFL-CIO is terrified that its members are going to vote for John McCain. These are those white working class voters that Barack Obama seems incapable of appealing to. They are going to trash John McCain to their own base for the next 6 months.
This is not a sign of strength. They are going to spending $53m more on this. That's a sign of desperation.
Union dues at work.
If lack of money while facing lots of rich and powerful opposition that spent months campainging meant defeat then Romney would be our nominee not McCain.
I’m in the Amer. Postal Workers Union and the national
and local newsletters frequently praise the Dems and
criticize the GOP etc. Though I was pleased to see a letter
to the editor of the national APWU mag say that not everyone
was a big Dem/liberal supporter in our union and he defended
the Pres. and the war, etc. They DID print it.
So are you going to take this Friday, May Day, off.
Since the AFL-CIO is going to rally for “immigrant’s rights” and “Stop the War” on that day?
I thought the union bosses did the bidding of the membership- not the other way around. Silly me.
“notably those much-courted Reagan Democrats “
?????????????
My guess is the Reagan Democrats long ago stopped voting for the Bolsheviks.
They know the “Hilary Democrats” won’t vote Obama. OK, let’s just be real. They know the white working class union rank and file will not vote Obama. They also know Hilary won’t win the nomination and are trying to pre-empt the stampede. Indeed, they are terrified of their flock of sheep. Look for union thugs to start trolling the shops looking for the politcally incorrect statements on the shop floor, and to follow up with threats & intimidation.
Nope I am working :)
The gun rights vote is one thing the unions can’t overcome. I don’t know one union member “gun guy” that will not secretly confess to voting Republican simply over gun rights.
