Obama: I Am ‘Outraged’ and ‘Angered’ By Wright’s Comments
Fox News ^ | April 29, 2008 | staff

Barack Obama, declaring “that’s enough,” denounced Tuesday as “appalling” and “ridiculous” comments made in the last few days by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr.

In a press conference in North Carolina, the Illinois senator used his strongest language to date to condemn Wright’s controversial sermons, which have remained a burden on his campaign since they became national news more than a month ago. Wright spoke Monday at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

“I am outraged by the comments that were made, and saddened over the spectacle that we saw yesterday,” Obama said.

“The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe they ended up giving comfort to those who prey on hate,” he said.

Wright capped off a weekend-long set of public appearances at the Press Club, returning to the spotlight and casting an unwanted shadow over Obama’s campaign. Wright used his appearance to taunt reporters, criticize his country’s foreign policy and suggest that Obama only distanced himself from Wright out of political posturing.

Obama said he was particularly “angered” by that suggestion.

“If Reverend Wright thinks that that’s political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn’t know me very well — based on his remarks yesterday I may not know him as well as I thought either,” Obama said.

Shortly after the Wright controversy broke, Obama condemned his pastor’s sermons but still kept him at an arm’s length, saying Wright was “like family” and he could no more “disown” him than his own grandmother.

Like the good reverend Wright said, the chickens are coming home to roost.

That’s what I think, although I think they bungled it. Obama did not attack Wright until after Wright attacked Obama. Apparently Obama doesn’t care if Wright attacks America. It’s only when Wright attacks Obama that he is “outraged.”

I sure hope Obama heard some kind of actual Bible teaching in his 20 year attendance of that church to help him get through the tuff times ahead of him.
Getting a steady diet of social gospel doesn’t really prepare you to deal with the real world.

“He contains within him the contradictions—the good and the bad—of the community that he has served diligently for so many years. I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother...”

Let me see: he went to that church for twenty years, married Michelle there and sat with his family listening to Jeremiah Wright's racist rantings all that time with no objection expressed ever - to it whatsoever and all of a sudden he discovers Wright is not quite person he thought he knew? Puhleeaze! This one takes the cake for a Damascus Road conversion! And at least Paul, who actively persecuted the Christians knew nothing about them til he saw Jesus and he didn't know Jesus while Obama did know Wright for twenty years!

This is all BS, spin, he didn’t throw Wright any where.

It does however give Obama cover on the Wright issue.

If it works look for Ayers to do the same thing.

Hmmm ... a set up, a deal for Wright to say something new and outrageous so Obama could properly distance himself without gaining a flip-flopper moniker? Maybe he did learn something from Bill & Hill.

I am thinking that too. No way in hell a black preacher, forget the candidates’ own preacher and close friend, does anything intentionally to hurt the first viable black presidential candidate in history. No way.

I hope the McManiac wins. I hope he picks a conservative VP and then finds poor health keeps him from finishing out his term.

But if a Rat has to be elected and the choice is Hillary or Obama, what would you take?

Hillary is is a lying duplicitous sociopath who is one half of a criminal political syndicate that almost ruined America for eight years. Not only are the Clintons socialists, they are dangerous criminals and were they not the President and wife, would have been occupying a jail cell long ago.

Obama is merely another socialist liberal. But he's not a real criminal. Arkancide never happened in Illinois. The IRS was never used to intimidate political opponents. Obama was not a chronic sexual predator who may have been guilty of rape. Obama never was involved in scandals like Whitewater.

This is NOT an endorsement of Obama - its a statement of the lesser of the two evils.

Further, Obama as a Presidential candidate would be more vulnerable than the Clintons. The Clintons are a criminal syndicate with a political propaganda machine and an army of well-heeled professional cadres unseen since the days of Goebbels. They will eat McCain up. And Hillary would do ANYTHING to get Obama on her side once she won the nomination. She knows she needs those urban black votes.
Obama hates Hillary and Hillary would do everything to defeat Obama so she can run again in 4 years.

So Rush should cancel operation CHAOS while we are ahead.

re: YOU GOT IT. It's all staged...a farce....with OBama and Wright the only ones in on the joke.)))

Nope. I don't give them that much credit, and I don't believe this is a Hillary plot either. Obama's hand was forced, and this late renunciation makes him look weak and manipulated.

This was completely about Jeremiah's ego. He can't take any of what he dishes out. He got his feelings hurt because everybody saw him acting racist and he took it out on EVERYBODY--especially Obama. That was authentic fury on CNN.

And he's forever lowered the capital of the race hustler.
