Ethanol is terrible for boats.

The diversion is raising feed costs. And the taxpayers are paying for it. Now if a farmer on their own wants to make it and market it I have no problem. But to force it on people is just wrong.

"The diversion is raising feed costs."

Sorry, but I don't believe that, simply because only the carbohydrate fraction is removed from the corn. The rest (distillers grain) is EXCELLENT animal feed. The more likely culprit is the QUADRUPLING of oil costs. The ONLY commodity price increase that can be fully laid to "corn into ethanol" production are those that use "whole kernel" corn---like corn flakes, grits, corn tortillas, and so on.

"And the taxpayers are paying for it."

In part, yes. But would you rather those dollars go to the ragheads to buy munitions to use against us, or stay in circulation in the US, and pay for tractors, trucks, fertilizer, and on and on.

Like it or not, the US government has subsidized the startup of MANY industries, starting with the railroads after the Civil War. Were all those industries bad???
