Obama's 'mainstream' friends
Boston Globe ^ | April 27, 2008 | Jeff Jacoby

Posted on 04/27/2008 11:17:56 AM PDT by neverdem

SHOULD VOTERS care that Barack Obama is friendly with William Ayers, a onetime leader of the Weather Underground terrorist group that committed dozens of bombings and other violent crimes between 1969 and 1975? That question came up during the recent Democratic debate in Philadelphia, and scorn by the bucketful was heaped on the ABC moderators who asked it.

The Washington Post's Tom Shales, for example, was appalled that Obama should be confronted with "such tired tripe" as the fact that he "once associated with a nutty bomb-throwing anarchist." Michael Grunwald of Time derided the "extremely stupid politics" responsible for questions like the one about the "obscure sixties radical" with whom Obama "was allegedly 'friendly.' " Other commentators were even more outraged.

The chorus of protests echoed Obama's own defense. When George Stephanopoulos challenged him to explain his relationship with the unrepentant former terrorists - "I don't regret setting bombs," Ayers told The New York Times. "I feel we didn't do enough" - the senator dismissed the issue as irrelevant.

"This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago, who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis. And the notion that [my] knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago when I was 8 years old somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn't make much sense, George." His links to the ex-Weathermen he brushed aside as "flimsy," saying he was sure "the American people are smarter than" to think he shares the terrorists' radical views.

Obama didn't leave it there. His campaign issued a 1,300-word "fact check" pooh-poohing his connection to Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn (another former Weathermen terrorist), as "phony," "tenuous,"...

Obama is the “Manchurian Candidate” alright - he lies about his real views but he represents the apotheosis of the far left trying to burrow into the highest levels of American govt. and institutions. The Clintonistas already did a lot of damage, including many many atrocious appointments, but Obama could do so much more. Think of all the Clintonistas who are burrowed into all the federal agencies for years to come, and then think of Obama assuring us of 20-30 years more of powerful leftists distributed throughout the bureaucracies.

Referring to the helpless victims of the Manson Family as the “Tate Eight” (the most famous was actress Sharon Tate) Dohrn shouted:

“Dig It. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!”

Obama embraces this sociopath with open arms. He has no problem with associating with scum like this.
He associates with all sorts of deadly enemies of our society.
We should demand that he withdraw from the Presidential race.

If it was Dohrn with a fork in her no one here would be bothered. In fact, for most of Obamasama’s little friends, we probably wouldn’t be bothered at all to see them take a ride on a gurney (after trial and conviction of course).

America, he said after Sept. 11, "is not a just and fair and decent place.

Ayers is free and a professor at a major university. If justice had been served on him he would have been dead and buried long ago....so maybe Ayers has a point, at least when it comes to how America now deals with traitors.

Good one!! I’m hoping/expecting there should be a nice CLIFF just off to the right of that image, for the Pied Piper of socialism to lead the ‘Rats to electoral disaster.

This comment that Obama was 'only eight years old' when his current friend engaged in terrorist bombings is an absolutely unbelievable, outrageous, pathetic and insulting defense of Obama's adult friendship with a terrorist.

Does that mean that someone who was under 8 years of age on 9/11--could then develop a friendship with Osama bin Laden???

Yet there are some people (most notably in the MSM) that will into that blatant, BS, bogus logic as a defense.

Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable!!!

It’s difficult to imagine they are so blatantly antiAmerican!

Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left

And a review:

By  Kat Bakhu (Albuquerque, NM United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left (Hardcover)
I had long wondered why people on the Left had the propensity to speak more positively about people who would slit their throats than they do about their own country, which affords them more freedom and opportunity than anywhere else. David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly and convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and confused, I now feel crystal clear. Unholy Alliance is such a great book.

It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century, and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American attitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same impossible utopia.

Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once G.W. Bush implemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving components of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on individual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz covers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alliance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding.

This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoning clear. Horowitz is just that type of person! In the terrain of mindless clichés (no-blood-for-oil, etc.), he is a breath of real fresh air.

Interesting information about the true extent of Obama's relationship with Ayers can be found at this pro-Hillary blog. Apparently, Barack Obama met Ayers through his wife Michelle Obama, who once worked at the same law firm as Ayers' wife, Bernadine Dohrn. The relationship goes all the way back to 1988, and includes a period when Barack Obama actually worked for Ayers in a community organization.
