Thank you for remembering Waco. So many have forgotten.

You forgot the part about "the women who left and reported what was happening inside" in your response....and that's probably why the case has continued...... by the way Manson had a cult too......

it is the seriousness of the charge, not the truth of the evidence which was gathered in an “ends justify the means” style.

And evil prevails when good men stand by and do nothing......what would you suggest should be done?

It all comes down to he said she said in the end and only those inside can attest to the truth the rest of us are just spectators watching this unfold.

Our opinions only count at the voting booth...choose wisely.

Regards,

Yeah, yeah. “Keep these children in slavery for liberty’s sake”.

Some parents who have left the sect may win custody,

I would hope that the decision to take a child away wasn't strictly based on the religious affiliation of the parents.

But this line sure sounds like the issue wasn't abusing the kids, but belonging to the cult. And while I know some here at FR thinnk belonging to the cult is a punishable offense, I had hoped that wasn't the legal approach being used.

So it's not enough that the mother has never abused the child, she has to renounce her faith to get her child back?

The State says the same thing regarding those kids that attend “bible camp.”

I never heard that before. Source?

It was very important to collect that list of all the mormons here, so when they post to threads we can label them properly.

Maybe We could get John Robinson to update the web site to put some marker on the freeper screen names of the mormons, so we don’t have to do it by memory.

They could put a yellow star after their names, maybe. Would that work for you?

Real nice job of biased editing there, CW...the sentence reads: Some parents who have left the sect may win custody, while some youngsters may be allowed to return to the ranch in Eldorado.

Also, this does NOT say that any of this is permanent, nor have I seen ANY info that states the parents (those who are ACTUALLY legal parents) of the children will be separated from them permanently. Don't let the facts get in the way of your agenda.

I am LDS and also have sworn to uphold the constitution from all enemies foreign and DOMESTIC.

So these cult leaders denying their followers their basic Constitutional rights are not domestic enemies?

Do you really believe that only the men in this cult have Constitutional rights that need to be defended and that it's OK for them to rob the women and children of their Constitutional rights?

What did they mean then, when they said “some parents who have left the sect may win custody”?

Why not just say “some parents may win custody”, if the phrase “have left the sect” doesn’t imply the reason for winning custody?

I took the last part to mean that if the children were young enough to not be in danger of child marriage, they would be allowed back to the ranch. Also, I didn’t know if the last set would include the parents regaining custody.

If you aren’t reading the news with an eye toward bias against religion, things might look innocuous enough. But if you are looking for signs of bias, they are there, at least in the reporting.

"These kids don't know who the president is. Don't know that we're at war. Don't know who Elvis was, don't know who the Beatles were," said Bobby Gilliam, director of the Methodist Children's home in Waco, Texas, where some of the children will be staying.

Aren't they rather young for that? Really, it sounds as though Bobby is a bit out of touch himself.

Boy have you got it all wrong. They didn't take action against the cult because of their religious beliefs but because they were breaking the law.

They got a call for help that they had to answer. The history of this cult is well known. This was not an impulsive action based on unfounded accusations.

He married his third wife, Elizabeth Harper, a British citizen, on August 21, 2005. The two met while Harper was working as an assistant for the Chicago-based American Monetary Institute, which brought her to Kucinich's House of Representatives office for a meeting. Mrs. Kucinich is thirty-one years his junior. [7]

He's sixty-one, which means that she was an adult when they met. Not a barely pubescent girl.

Oh sure, and the mormons who have labeled anyone who posts in opposition to their beliefs can be labeled "liar", "bigot", "hater", and my favorite, "viper"...OH wait! we are ALREADY labelled that way.

>> Don’t let the facts get in the way of your agenda.

Speaking of agendas...

I confess I know OF this case but not so much about the details of what allegedly went on at the site. I am aware that the “abused child” who reported it was, in fact, a phony. That and the tendency of our nanny state to act like... well, like a nanny state, has me suspicious as to whether the state is in the right, or not.

Perhaps my suspicion of the government is unfounded in this case, and there is clear evidence that crimes actually happened.

Can you please point me to a link that outlines the hard evidence (not merely media or state innuendo) that children were abused at this place?

I was answering a question regarding my own tenets and choice in life. Quoting what I answered another person and making it look like I am hypocritical is cowardly! Nice try on the marginalization! Are you set on spin cycle?

“So these cult leaders denying their followers their basic Constitutional rights are not domestic enemies?”

Is that why the compound was raided?

“Do you really believe that only the men in this cult have Constitutional rights that need to be defended and that it’s OK for them to rob the women and children of their Constitutional rights?”

Nope.

I’m very surprised at the knee-jerk reaction here. Polygamy is illegal in the U.S. This case is about child abuse and sex with minors. These people were collecting huge amounts of welfare. Texas Rangers conducted the raid, not the federal government.

Polygamy leads to inbreeding. There is a FLDS colony in Colorado City which is producing profoundly retarded children. Polygamy requires that boys be eliminated. The YFZ has deposited over 1,000 innocent boys on the streets. Boys who are totally unprepared for life outside of the cult. They cannot go back and are told God has damned them forever.

Monogamy and polygamy are the most striking difference between Judeo-Christians and Muslims. Jihad is how they get rid of their young men. The Muslim population is afflicted with very high rates of recessive genetic diseases, perhaps explaining why their culture is failed.

Shame on all of you! Except you, AppyPappy.

Sounds like you are suggesting a line of reasoning that will lead to government enforced eugenics.

Just because we don’t jump in front of a camera and say “ooh, look at all the good we are doing” doesn’t mean we’re not there helping. And if we did we would just get beat for trying to further “brainwash” the children and women. Nice bait though!

Well, when in front of cameras, mormon representatives were reluctant to even provide support for their prayer sessions of the victims. In fact, a part from providing some bom to them, I've seen absolutely nothing that they have done. Absence is very LOUD, especially since mormons are always telling how pro-family and giving they are. The Christian organizations that ARE helping are not jumping infront of cameras, but actually WORKING with these victims. Wow, how great and wonderful is mormon charity.
