If you look at ancient paintings and such of the Egyptian royalty, you will notice a lot of them with elongated heads. I doubt that this was a result of artistic license.

Incest and inbreeding was common in ancient times especially in royalty.

Actually, it sort of was. The Egyptians practiced head wrapping of royal babies.

They wanted the people to think of them as a separate race, decended from the gods. You know, kinda like some presidential candidates we know.
