I do not with to recover.

Recovery would mean I have lost my soul to evil.

The statement you claim is from a Rabbi is self-contradictory. If it is an attempt to show the Old Testament teaches that polygamy is always wrong, it shouldn't include several examples where polygamy was practiced by the founders of the Jewish faith, i.e. Abraham and Jacob, let alone David and Saul.

I'm sure that's not the only part of the Old Testament you could do without. :-)

You sound like you have chucked the teachings of Jesus about marriage right out the window.

Explain why a church would have the name Jesus Christ in its name yet ignore his teachings.

Jesus said a man shall leave his mother and father and shall cleave unto his wife.

Not wives, not concubines, only his wife.

So I put way more stock into what he said than what sinners like Abraham and Jacob did.

Tada! I'm glad you are admitting your true feelings about the Jews and their religion! The revered founding fathers of the Jewish race are sinners in your eyes.

It really must be a challenge for you to read the Old Testament! :-)

I said "Somehow, the Jewish people manage to condemn the practice even though it puts them in danger of criticizing the founders. "

To which you bizarrely replied: Charles, this polygamy defense is just wrong.

In your world, is condeming something some sort of defense? Because out here in the real world we condemn things we oppose, not that we are trying to justify.

Someone said LDS people couldn't criticize polygamy because of their past, and I was pointing out that others have no trouble condemning things that are in their past.

You could have at least found one of my posts where I said Polygamy isn't much different than having affairs -- you could have simply partially quoted me and pretended you had an argument.

So, you don’t want to address his self contraditory statements? I don’t blame you! :-)

So you think they were not sinners?

So what was the reason for sacrifices????

You must have a hard time reading the New Testament.

You don’t believe Jesus is the God of the Old and the New Testament? Hmmmm....I thought all protestants were trinitarians.

I realize I have you mixed up with another Freeper who was defending the practice today or yesterday.

I apologize!

Oh yldstrk’s; without a doubt! I just put her on nearly the same level as the FLDS with her quick assertion of what “God wants”.

I find polygamy to be distasteful, and child molestation arouses my violent tendencies against any scumbag that perpetrates it.

Having said that, I have many problems with this whole mess: both the State’s fascist-like heavy-handedness against the women and children, and the leaders of the FLDS that started this mess in the first place.

“Some people truly do not know the difference between LDS and Flds.”

Wow, man. I’ve had tons of LSD, but that new stuff fLSD, I heard it’s a bum trip. Makes you feel like Lewis Carroll.

“both the State’s fascist-like heavy-handedness against the women and children,”

You may see it that way, which is understandable, given that we don’t know all the facts.

I don’t think the CPS had any other choice but to take all the children, until they could determine who was who, and who belonged to who.

The FLDS members refused to identify who was who, to the CPS.

Rather than leave one child in danger, they removed them all.

If they could have identified who belonged to who, instantly, they would have.

And yet, there seems to be a problem with the general public understanding that simple fact.

I posted them to you previously, and I’m just not going to go back and find the post. You clearly didn’t have an interest in answering them then, so, that’s fine.

To: Choose Ye This Day
It is not up to us to decide which husband a woman chooses to be sealed to in the afterlife. We perform the ordinance, but she chooses. Of course, you already knew that.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormons, has "plenty" of say re: temple practices involving names for whom some proxy ritual is being conducted. For example, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormons, as of now has backed off "baptizing" holocaust victims in baptisms for the dead ceremonies primarily due to complaints from Jewish organizations.

Are you telling me that you could go into a temple & baptize whatever deceased person you want, no bag limit?

But you already knew that, didn't you?
