Offset Al Gore's Eco-Unfriendly Diet!
PETA appreciates the work that Al Gore has done to raise awareness about the problem of global warming. But Gorewho once said, "[W]e will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming"would probably be the first to tell you that saving the planet will require a lot more than raising awareness. The key to stemming the tide of climate change is to make personal changes that will help reduce global warming. So it's a bit of a mystery why Gore continues to eat animals and ignores the overwhelming evidence that eating meat is the number one cause of global warming.
The following are a few inconvenient truths that the former V.P. ignores:
* A major United Nations study determined that the meat industry generates 40 percent more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, trucks, SUVs, ships, and planes in the world combined. * Researchers at the University of Chicago concluded that going vegan is 50 percent more effective in combating the climate crisis than switching to a hybrid car. * The official handbook of the Live Earth concerts that Gore helped organize acknowledges that not eating meat is "the single most effective thing" you can do to reduce your climate change impact (emphasis in original).
Since Gore's addiction to meat is apparently stronger than his desire to secure a better future for our planet, we're asking those who recognize that actions speak louder than words to help offset Gore's greenhouse-gas emissions by pledging to go vegetarian for 30 days.

Very funny. PETA obviously doesn’t understand its own liberal mentality. Liberalism is about making others give up their liberties, their life styles. They don’t mean the liberal making the demands. Geez.
I love it when vegetarians eat their own . . .
That’s it, thread over. You win.
Very well said.
HA HA! Where is the picture of the guy taking it in the shorts with the bull horn?
The best response on any thread, anywhere!

Gore’s message loses bite

ONLY one week after Live Earth, Al Gore’s green credentials slipped while hosting his daughter’s wedding in Beverly Hills.
Gore and his guests at the weekend ceremony dined on Chilean sea bass - arguably one of the world’s most threatened fish species.
Also known as Patagonian toothfish, the species is under pressure from illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing activities in the Southern Ocean, jeopardising the sustainability of remaining stocks.

bump
If PETA says so, then it must be true.
Tonight I'll be having an extra large steak in celebration, and to bump us toward a warmer, more desirable future, since a warm era is normally referred to as an "optimum".
While I rarely put any more faith in PETA than in AlGore, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt any time their claims mean that I should have a healthy, traditional meat-and-potatoes dinner.
It probably won’t be long before Bloomberg and his ilk start requiring all food labels to state their ‘Flatulence Index’.
Guess what PETA? Plants scream and experience pain when they are harvested and cooked. They are living organisms, too.
Well...then they aren’t Vegetarians!!!
Careful.....last week in Portland, OR one of the Multnomah County Commissioners said...twice....at a meeting....”Trees have feelings, too”.....and he was serious. Dan Saltzman is his name.
Speaking of eating meat, a fellow FReeper, can’t remember who now, mentioned the other day, that they eat Laura’s Lean Beef. Well a couple of days later, my husband, by coincidence, bought some. It is really good beef. The one he bought was $6 something per pound, but I’ve since found it at Wal-Mart for $3 something—basically the same price as the other ground beef they sell. Here’s their website if any other meat eater is interested in finding it at a store near you:

Carrot Juice Is Murder
Lyrics by The Arrogant Worms
Listen up brothers and sisters, come hear my desperate tale
I speak of our friends of nature, trapped in the dirt like a jail
Vegtables live in oppression, served on our tables each night
This killing of veggies is madness, I say we take up the fight
Salads are only for murderers, cole slaw’s a fascist regime Don’t think that they don’t have feelings, just cause a radish can’t scream
Chorus:
I’ve heard the screams of the vegetables(Scream... scream... scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (Having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy..(Burning off calories)
How do you think that feels? (That it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder..(And that’s a real crime)
greenhouses prisons for slaves (Let my vegetables go!)
It’s time to stop all this gardening..(It’s dirty as hell)
Let’s call a spade a spade. (is a spade is a spade is a)
I saw a man eating celery, so I beat him black and blue
If he ever touches a sprout again, I’ll bite him clean in two
I’m a political prisoner, trapped in a windowless cage
‘Cause I stopped the slaughter of turnips, by killing five men in a rage
I told the judge when he sentenced me, “This is my finest hour!
I’d kill those farmers again, just to save one more cauliflower!”
CHORUS
How low as people do we dare to stoop?
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup
Untie your beans! Uncage your tomatoes!
Let potted plants free! Don’t mash that potato!! Whoa!... Whoa!... Whoa!...
I’ve heard the screams of the vegetables(Scream... scream... scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (Into the stirfryer sealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy..(You fat gourmet slob)
How do you think that feels? (Leave them out in the field)
Carrot juice constitutes murder..(V-8’s genocide)
greenhouses prisons for slaves (yes, your composts are graves)
It’s time to stop all this gardening..(Take Up macrame)
Let’s call a spade a spade. (is a spade is a spade is a)
