Most SETI research is privately funded. See Paul Allen.

Are you getting your argument that Genesis 2 puts the creation of the animals after the Creation of man from 2:19 because in the NIV at least 2:19 is written in the past tense. It says “Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field ...” So, I don’t think this is a problem either - it may just be a poor translation into the KJV that was causing the problem. The KJV can be kind of difficult at times with its old english.

Intelligent Design vs Darwinism:

1 Picture is worth 100,000,000 words.

Think about it.

"You seem knowlegeable about ID. Can you point me to positive evidence for its existence?"

Sure. Here's a one question test.

Did it evolve naturally or was it designed?

That’s kind of my point - we’re relying upon translations of translations of translations of thousands of years of oral stories and claiming historical accuracy based upon that. If different translations of the same original Hebrew/Greek/Latin sources exist, how can we be sure of the historical accuracy of the earliest sections of the Bible?

Would you accept the oral traditions of native American indians regarding the creation story? Other than it is from a different faith, why not? Veracity is the issue? If so, what gives the Bible more veracity than your belief in it, and why demand higher levels of proof from other, similarly shaded beginnings (of oral traditions and lost, transcribed, translated, and rewritten texts)?

I saw it in an ultra-nice theater that’s so new that the masses haven’t figured out it’s even open yet. As a result, I’ve gone to major releases there and the room would be 20% full. Given that, I expected to watch EXPELLED with a tiny handful of other viewers. I was really shocked when I walked into a packed room.

And you still will not tell me which deity I should refute. Most every religion has a Creator.

The Bible explicitly states who this God is: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob.

And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.---Exodus 3:15

p.s. -- Reading the Bible is not like reading a Stephen King novel or other science fiction. You read a few verses of scripture, or chapters, then study, study, and study. And continue studying, and more studying.

Wish the Darwinian community would do the same.

Unfortunately, the “scientific community” comes with a presupposition that God does not exist. Honest Darwinians will admit as much. However, in order to make the Darwinian hypothesis work, something extra needs to be added to the pot. In this case, time. Because we know that the Darwinian tale could never have taken place in the past 10,000 years (that is the supposed transitional forms do no manifest themselves in our day-to-day existence and humans are not evolving into something else), Darwinists throw time at the matter and hope that with enough time lightning striking a mud puddle will bring about something intelligent. Darwinists have not observed the key tenets of their theory. Yet, they assume, at least in some form, they are true. That is their right. What is not their right is trying to shut up those in the scientific community and in academia who after careful study have come up with a different conclusion - even if it includes an Intelligent Designer. That’s what Stein addresses in the movie, and as a presumably conservative American, you should be all for the freedom to simply let others know that there are alternate theories out there. None of us was there. And science is not omniscient in spite of any obvious puns.

"see “ring species” for direct evidence of macro-evolution:"
Ring species show the process of speciation in action. In ring species, the species is distributed more or less in a line between sub-species.

Why do you feel the need to refute something about which you do not believe.

You must have a belief system. Is evolution true? Is that what you believe? Why does there need to be a male and female? Why are trees growing from rocks? Why do birds fly?

Does it matter if God exists, and guided us to our present moment? Why should that thought distress you enough to post your drivel to all of us "ignorant snake handlers"?

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord! You can continue in your bliss, if you will not turn your blind eyes toward Him you may find a surprise waiting for you. Charles Darwin agrees with me. You say you have read many bibles. I will pray to the only true God, that it will become so... and the scales will drop from your eyes, and your heart will not be so hard!

I haven’t said anything about “ignorant snake handlers” and it is false for you to say/imply that I have.

I will speak to you no further today till you do what your religion commands which is to not lie and not to spread false rumors about others.

So there is no merit in the Search for Extraterestial Intelligence (SETI)? We can’t spot intelligence under any conceivable circumstance. If I understand you rightly, it just couldn’t be “scientific” under any scenario.

I don't know how you concluded that from my comments.

I have no objection to ID being discussed. I don't even have an objection to it being offered as an elective course. Lord knows, it's a more serious discussion that many elective courses offer.

It's not science, and proponents should be a bit more honest about it.

It's philosophy. It's philosophy attacking science.

As long as everyone is clear about that, then discuss the heck out of it. That doesn't bother me at all.

We saw this movie yesterday. My husband is a physicist (focus on directed energy) — a Fellow at one of the largest corporations, often published and highly respected in his field. He said it’s one of the best movies he’s ever seen.
