The (full) exit poll shows that Silvio Berlusconis Freedom Party has scored a significant victory in Italys just concluded snap election. In the lower house, the center-right Freedom Party leads the center-left Democratic Party by 8 points, 46 to 38 percent; and, in the upper house, by 9 points, 47 to 38 percent. These margins are in line with the upper end of the range of pre-election surveys. These strong showings plus the bonus that goes to the party or coalition of parties that achieves a plurality in the popular vote under rules enacted in 2005, will give the Freedom Party a relatively robust majority in the Italian parliament. We await the actual tabulation of the vote, and also the possibility that either or both of the Center Party and the Northern Party will join Berlusconis government, giving it an even stronger majority.

mostly its about the economy, as the leftist government just taxed Italians to death...but illegal immigration and related crime is also decisive...you know the first important decision made by Prodi administration was to free tons of criminals because prisons were too crowded and the living conditions there were “unhuman”...
personally it is the second issue that “forced” me to vote for “Lega Nord”, a member of Berlusconi coalition
