FLDS women seek Texas governor's help

SAN ANGELO — A Texas judge on Sunday ordered law enforcement officials to immediately confiscate all cell phones in the possession of FLDS women and children now housed in temporary quarters here. "I just called to say, hi. They are about to collect the phones, I think," one soft-spoken FLDS woman said during a telephone call to another member of the Fundamentalist LDS Church who was outside of the shelter. "I don't like what they're doing."

Several of the women inside the shelters spoke by cell phone to the Deseret News on Saturday to describe the living conditions there. Children could be heard crying in the background of each conversation. The News published an article on Sunday, quoting the women who complained there was no privacy and that their children were getting sick.

FLDS faithful outside the shelter are convinced Sunday's court order is a direct result of the women speaking to the newspaper.

"This is nothing more than retaliation of Child Protective Services to punish those who were disclosing what is really happening behind the walls of this concentration camp," said Don, an FLDS member who asked that his last name not be used. "These are my family members."

Since when do members of the media become the great cultural/lifestyle arbitors for our Court system? Do journalism degrees come with medical, nutritional, psychological, pharmacuetical knowledge so discerning that ‘they’ as members of the MSM can determine living conditions? I am sure the media types are always pure of heart and intention...so of course they should intervene...I mean its not like media ever has an ‘agenda.’ Certainly members of the SLC and Utah media would fairly report actions of TX officials?

I know your question wasn’t addressed to me but I also read that there was a birthing room. The midwives would probably have been required to submit reports. If any were getting assistance, welfare requires birth certificates or proof of age for children and ID of the parent so there are probably pieces of the puzzle there too. It’s all gonna come together. It is just going to take time. I was thinking about this puzzle the other night. I would like to be on the team trying to figure this out.

Her 3 B’s are covered. If she’s comfortable, leave her alone about how she is dressed .

My point as well. I find the way she chooses to dress her business, not mine or anyone elses.

Ah, first off, we’ve all read the ‘History of Mormonism’ at least 235 times on the other threads. We know.

The damage done to those living in these settings is slavery, and something that goes against the basic tenants of this country. And don’t use the ‘polygamy is moral or ancient’ argument. Now all it (Polygamy-child brides) is is an old man’s wet dream. It wouldn’t happen naturally, it only can happen via manipulation and isolation.

No woman from the outside enters into this, only those bred into it are involved, and only because their rights to free will have been stripped away. Again, we’re talking humans, not cattle.

The same arguments were used during the times predating the civil war (right down to slaves being biblical) Same here, use all the history etc you want. Some things are wrong and should not be allowed to stand. This is such a case.

So would I! As awful as it is, what looks like disorganization are really some well thought out smoke screens. Why is it the most corrupt people are so smart? (don’t answer, rhetorical)

The Thirteenth Amendment has some bearing on this.

Slavery has been going on in this group for quite some time ~ it must be eliminated.

Same with the slavery and peonage imposed on illegal aliens. That's gotta' end even if we have to send all of 'em back home.

What's most interesting to me is the incredible number of posters we have who are willing to let slavery continue unchallenged.

Assuming that the problem would be solved with the arrest and conviction of a few would be pretty naive thinking.

The possibility of what you describe is real. However, the only permanent cure for such a problem is to outlaw the FLDS. There were laws on the books until the 1960s that outlawed the Communist Party and like minded groups. In some European countries, neo-Nazi groups are illegal. In the early 1900s, Jehovah's Witnesses suffered legal persecution and vigilante attacks by such groups as the American Legion while the law turned a blind eye. The problem with such laws is that they violate freedom of conscience, religion, and speech.

In his dissent from a 1940 ruling requiring Jehovah's Witnesses to say the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools, Chief Justice Harlan Stone stated: "The guarantees of civil liberty are but guarantees of freedom of the human mind and spirit and of reasonable freedom and opportunity to express them...The very essence of the liberty which they guarantee is the freedom of the individual from compulsion as to what he shall think and what he shall say." It is not the role of government to decide whether the particular human mind is acting responsibly is such decisions, barring objective evidence to the contrary.

Exactly, the women and kids in this are full citizens and individuals also. Not property.

IMHO, the comments being made here are akin to a German Lutheran criticizing the policies at Auschwitz for violating the Jewish ability to practice Purim.

The things going on in this compound were incredibly sick.

Yes, there is grief ongoing due to separation of the children from their mothers. There is also a cost for rejecting legitimate authority by the adults in rebelling from national and state governance.

There is also a tremendous amount of pain and suffering in the children for not being afforded a healthy familial example of one natural father and one natural mother. There is also a grossly unhealthy environment in denying familial relations with other family members.

All of this has been caused by a sexually and religiously perverted culture, attempting to counterfeit what God has already provided in the institutions of marriage and family.

IMHO, this is only the tip of the iceburg. Wait for another 20-60 years when the large number of sick secretive homosexual cults reveal the fruit of their perversity, make this monstrosity appear casual.

I would guess though that in this day and age there is a computer log with detail by detail. To be this big and planned, they have to have records. A leader could not just go to another compound and pull that many names and ages out of his head. I’ve read that women have been transferred from compound to compound. There are records somewhere.

And it gets back to the Constitutional rights of the women and children.

Yes, they technically do, guaranteed by the Constitution.

For all practical they’ve had none, being denied the right to exercise them by their leaders/masters/owners/whatever,..... till now.

You should keep your eyes open while you read. There are folks on these threads who actually grew up under the conditions prevelent in this particular cult. There are others who have relatives in this one or others like it.

No one in this sort of group has rights except the alpha male at the top and maybe a handful of his buddies with whom he shares the women.

Typically, enough investigation of groups like this will reveal the dead bodies of children buried in unmarked graves in the wilderness. At the moment we haven't had any reports about the FLDS doing that, but there are "related groups" (those with blood ties to the leadership elite in this bunch) who do so as a regular course of action.

Remember, even though the Brits regularly shipped their criminals to Australia, they did so only with those easily manipulated and tricked by government propaganda. The bad ones got shipped to Canada and sent packing to the US as soon as possible.

This cult is symptomatic of what happens when we have failed to fully defend our Northern border!

So what you are saying is actually the brillance of the founder of this sect——
under the protection of the first amendment, under the guise of religion, he set up what is pretty much a pedophilic male paradise, complete with a consistant flow of new females via birth.

Now, the issue I have is, unlike other belief systems and religions, the only way such a setting can exist is by conplete control of all elements of all members lives-— including the access to information, the removal of free will, stripping of autonomy and use of fear to insure compliance via the Will of God etc.

Males from the outside might join, but few females freely come in from the outside. Plus their is the history of removal of younger, competitive males.

So, is this really a ‘religion’ or slavery using the shield of religion. I will be honest, it’s friggin’ amazingly well thought out. But then again, the devil is a genius.

The interconnectedness of all this is a major issue. And yes, I guess we can dream that somewhere on some harddrive is all the information needed to convict their sorry azzes. (Sorry, hungry and cranky ;) )

I think Stone voted with the majority to refuse cert to the Japanese Americans then being detained in camps.

So all of that high flown language wasn't all that important to the good Justice was it.

It’s not really dreaming. It’s reality. Can you run a busisness without records? LE may never find it and have to do this the hard way but I’m guessing there is a gold mine of info somewhere.
