Mayhill Fowler has more from Obama's remarks at a San Francisco fundraiser Sunday, and they include an attempt to explain the resentment in small-town Pennsylvania that won't be appreciated by some of the people whose votes Obama's seeking:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
That's pretty broad list of things to explain with job loss.

Funny thing happened on the way home from the bank: after these so-called tax breaks, the wealthiest now pay an even larger share of the total tax burden and the number of people paying no tax at all has increased.
But of course this putz won't give you actual numbers, just platitudes designed for the masses to suckle on.
Typical white people have money and support Obama, like his Grandmother.
I think what Obama just alluded to in his comments in SF was that any of us from small towns are White Trash.
Can't wait for his next visit to PA or Ohio probably with a No. 13 baseball cap, a bottle of Bud, a Toby Keith T-Shirt and driving a pickup with a gun rack!

Michelle Snob-ama was whining awhile back about how tough (sob, sob) it was to handle the costs of piano and dance lessons, etc. but I don’t know if anything has been written about their schooling.

tried to show them NO just like I knew it....and they ate it up.....last nite in their little blazers and bowties at CP, they were a big hit.
folks in NO could not have been nicer...friendlier than Nashville folks to be honest....stayed away from the NE quadrant and it was perfect
drove 90 across Miss coast....as someone who rode out Camille as a boy and whose family construction outfit rebuilt in 69, I can tell u that Katrina was much worse....Pass Christian and Waveland were destroyed and about all that was left of Biloxi was Beauvoir...God knows Dixie apparently.
My grandparents old place at Long Beach on Rich ave completely wiped off the map...

This nonsense is straight out of the “false consciousness” vein of thought in the Marxist tradition, where the workers of the world are too dumb and downtrodden (unless enlightened by community ‘activists’ like Snob-ama)...... our current Demagogues really do think that workers won’t know their true interests until they have it explained to them properly that worrying about “God, Guns, and Gays” is just a distraction from pursuing the revolution of the working classes, led by the noble vanguard of the party elites.

There was some information on the web that claimed that the Obama’s were not paying tuition (maybe a prof's perk), otherwise the School's site claims the tuition for his two daugthers would be about $32,000 a year.
I guess they are on the same liberal train as Mom and Dad.

Ah, the U. of Chicago’s “Lab School” is quite well known in educational circles as an ‘elite’ private school for liberal academics and their friends. That would be one of the most elite secondary schools in the country, at least by snotty liberal standards.
Not that Hillary is any better qualified for the office of President. The Democrat party has offered two of it's best "losers," in every sense of the word. Both of you are emotionally unbalanced, disturbed, seedy and unqualified personalities ever to be running for office. Both of you stink! Period.
If you both are the best the Dems have to offer, it is no wonder this campaign has been lowered to the level it is now where it is a game of tit-for-tat, lies, slander, bigotry, and sweeping generalizations against others.
There is no focus on anything uplifting or significant. Nothing that makes any American proud to vote for either of you - they just feel like they are behind the rock and a hard place and there is no sweeping excitement about issues or where you stand on things. It is like you both have dragged this country into a dismal, dark swamp while we watch you two leaches in there trying to draw blood from each other while turning your backs on and criticizing anyone who does not want to be in there with you or share your beliefs. Is this what being "Presidential" is all about? I think NOT!

I saw some military folks on the news from Iraq a day or so ago saying they are going to vote for Obama. Now I can understand this young people wanting to get home from the war especially after several tours, but they clearly have not been following what this guy has been saying or do not understand what he stands for.
