It may be true that mayhem was widely avoided as they ran the initial relay course backwards ‘til it choked up with regrouping protesters, it definitely could have gotten nasty so he does deserve credit for that.

I was down on the Embarcadero and around Justin Herman Plaza from about 9:30 am to about 4:00 pm. There is no way that torch was going down the Embarcadero. Simply no way. There were thousands of protestors there and very few cops. Had the torch appeared there would have been pandemonium. The whole thing should have been cancelled. Having a fake-out is just a lousy commie trick.

This has turned out to be a great PR stunt for the American and Chinese Communists

All “conflict” was virtually avoided and America will seem like --to the over one Billion Chinese in China-- a dangerous place where something as peaceful and unifying as carrying the Olympic Torch through a large city in the USA has to have a police escort.

All the Tibet protest stuff...including the GG Bridge incident earlier this week... will not be seen in China.
