I've taken to noting this practice particularly, in order to resist the brainwashing effect of uncriticized mental input. Try it. See how often you see a normal white guy featured in a billboard picture, for instance.
I'd amend that to "positively featured"....I see commercials all the time where the average white guy is portrayed as a total dope. Usually defers to (or is completely shown up by) his wife or his kids. The latest "H&R Block" commercials particularly grate on my nerves.
But yeah, otherwise you're right. Guy I work with was featured on local billboards advertising for a graduate school. Knowing that he really *was* a student at that college, I asked him how he got the gig...he said that he was the only Hispanic guy in his class.
