Who says they have given up their native language? Perhaps if more if them spoke Chinese, they wouldn’t be left behind in the economic development.

The right to practice their religion is not a right at all. The Tibetans do not recognize the separation of Church and State. Few Americans this generation remember but this separation exists primarily not to protect secular political life from the manipulations of religion, but the inverse. Influence is a two way street, if religion dictates your government, then your government can also dictate your religion. Cuis regio, eius religio.

They dont want your economic development they want their country back and the freedom to practice their religion the way they want. If the murdering thugs of China had anything positive to offer they wouldn't be attacking soldiers carrying AK-47s with rocks.

We are talking about a group of people who want to live their own way, poor or rich. As to how they will govern their life, it’s none of other people’s business! It’s not up to Han Chinese to judge whether other people’s way of living is up to Han Chinese’s so-called sophisticated or “better” standards. BTW, these so-called Chinese ways have screwed up some Chinese people’s minds and made them lose capacity to think as regular human beings and to enjoy what nature or God grants to each human being. Maybe Tibetans or their culture are not rich or “modern” — So what!? -Even if they want to live in a cave! How about they just don’t want to be peed and pooped overhead by the chitcoms as some Chinese people would tolerate. As human beings, they fight for their freedom, liberty, and integrity - they are much more adorable and have higher self-esteem than those people who would rather live on their knees or die as slaves to exchange for financial benefits. Golden rule to live on Earth: as long as you don’t hurt anybody or affect others, you shall have your God-given unalienated rights to live your life in your own way. Nobody including any government shall have any right to tell you what to do!

Your assailants are the same group of people, or their descendants, who wanted to see Nixon impeached for having visited China in February of 1972. They were led at that time by Wm. F. Buckley Jr., recently deceased. His brother, James Buckley, later led the Senate charge to impeach Nixon over Watergate, which was one of the thinnest scandals ever put over on the U.S. public. As the years passed and he saw how wrong he had been about Nixon's 'opening to' China, Wm. F. Buckley, with great stealth, increasingly implied he had not objected to Nixon's approach to China, but rather, that he had only objected to Nixon's having been civil towards Chairman Mao -- as if diplomacy could be conducted with the sort of mailed fist approach that some of your critics have used in this thread in addressing your posts. As a member in good standing in Free Republic forums for a decade or so, I welcome your views. Unlike most of your critics, I have a fine Tibetan rug as the showpiece in my living room. Cheers.
