Absolut's New Campaign: Celebrate Homosexuality

The vodka company that envisions an "Absolut" world in which Mexico regains the U.S. Southwest is now unveiling two new "lifestyle-driven" ads focused on homosexual men and their "members," and same-sex couples.

Calling itself the "preferred brand of vodka for gay and lesbian consumers," the Absolut Spirits Co. says it's targeting homosexuals for the first time with a campaign "embracing both the humorous and socially conscious."

"Absolut challenges the status quo by presenting a bold and optimistic worldview that speaks directly to gay men and women," the company said in a news release. "The campaign visually answers the questions 'what if everything in the world were approached with the same ideals that Absolut approaches vodka?'"

The ads began appearing late last month in local and national "LGBT media," or lesbian, gay, bisexual transgender.

As WND reported, the company also has a print ad that reconfigures North America according to the aspirations of many Mexicans, who believe the U.S. Southwest was stolen and should be returned. Major Hispanic civil rights groups in the U.S., such as the National Council of La Raza, are tied to movements advocating a "reconquista," or reconquest, of territory lost when Mexico signed the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo at the end of the Mexican-American War.

The Absolut Spirits Co. is the New York-based importer of the Swedish vodka maker.

Their marketing firm should be fired. This is the second horrible mistake in one week.

It isn't a mistake. They're doing it on purpose.

They're betting that the Rat counterculture will become the new majority culture, and they are sucking up to them by kicking the new, official Reginald Dennys of American society: ordinary, moral, patriotic Americans, the kind who used to be the overwhelming demographic 60 years ago and produced "the greatest generation".

But to restate the main point, it's very deliberate.

How many conservative, "old mainstream" Americans drink cute, "designer" vodkas? Their booze is a lifestyle accessory for the vapid and valueless, and they know it.

I don't drink Vodka, but the Russians I worked with swore that Finlandia and Skyy were the best Vodkas you could get.

Actual Russians told you that?

Where is Skyy made, and how do you pronounce it?

Har har har ...

I once asked an Indian (subcontinent type) colleague to hand me "that ruler", referring to a graduated straight edge.

He looked at me like I was from Mars ...

In India, a "ruler" is a king (for example) ... the drafting implement is called a "scale". Of course, here a "scale" is used for measuring weight.

These are the vodkas you can easily get at the store, they said. They went on and on about special connoisseur vodka they’ve had, but I stopped listening. I’m not a drinker anymore.

What if the Swedes are purposely sabotaging Pernod prior to the company transfer? It’s no longer their company so the gloves come off.

This should get interesting with Pernod’s US bias’s clouding the issue.
