If all our efforts are as filthy rags, then why do Mormons teach that we go through Jesus only AFTER we have done all we can?
By your own admission, Jesus paid it all. Why do Mormons add works?

Jesus did offer salvation to those who believe and accepted it.
Jesus also expects us to try to strive to follow and keep his Commandment to the best of our abilities and than after all we can do he will cover the different.
How much weight do you give to Keep my Commandments?
We know to be perfect in this world is impossible but I also believe many believe they can through Jesus Christ make a good effort and one can while doing this learn a lot by doing a one on one with the Lord in our life each day showing the way.
More than working towards being perfect one learns a lot about themselves and getting closer to the Lord, and through our efforts then the Lord is able to magnify, build and uplift us beyond our abilities.
Without trying to walk that walk one would never know the hidden treasures that are within us.
After all we can do or practiced to get the body in line with the spirit of the Lord.
Remember what it was like when one was learning to ride a bike or play an instrument, it takes desire, focus and faith that one can do this.
What it shows is commitment, and not just a bump on the log who wants to go long for the ride, which is a very poorer kind of grace.
Our body, mind and soul has to be in harmony to enter the Kingdom of the Lord or this child will not endure the light.
In all of the accounts that I have read where the Lord translate or elevates one to see him that mortal can only be sustain for a brief amount of time before returning back to earth.
We as a finished product have to have worked at aligning the body in this life time or we will not be able to endure, therefore we will not be able to go there.
Those who make it, have submitted themselves to the refiners fire.
