One big problem that many active LDS people have is that they believe the lie that most people quit the church because they were offended or because they don't want to live the commandments.

And THIS is the "official" stance of the LDS church now.

Ex-Mormons urged to return

"(New) LDS President Thomas S. Monson said members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are ready to welcome "the less active, the offended, the critical, the transgressor" into fellowship."

Exactly as seen on FR, those of us who have left the LDS are accused of being sinners who can't live the commandments.

This statement by Monson was MUCH less an invitation to "return" than a reminder to the "faithful" of how apostates are to be defined, and encouragement to ostracize them lest they, the "faithful" be contaminated.
