BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Authorities enter Eldorado-area temple (Fundamentalist LDS cult)
Go San Angelo ^ | 5 April 08 | Paul A. Anthony

Posted on 04/06/2008 5:27:22 AM PDT by SkyPilot

Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.

The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.

The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriff’s deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.

The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the state’s Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.

Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.

“In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst,” Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have “medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.”

Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.

Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.

“There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship,” Palmer said Saturday afternoon. “If an agreement cannot be reached … law enforcement will have to — as gently and peaceably as possible — make entry into that place.”

Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.

Palmer said she didn’t know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.

The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.

“Anytime someone says, ‘Don’t look here,’” she said, “it makes you concerned that’s exactly where you need to look.”

The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.

The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriff’s deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compound’s residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.

“Things have been a little tense, a little volatile,” she said.

Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.

No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.

Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.

“They’re in the process of looking,” she said. “They’re literally about halfway through.”

How can you say mormon boogieman god, when this comes from the Bible!

Because, resty, the God you worship is not the Biblical God. The Lord you worship was once a mortal man and achieved Godhood by working his way up.

The God you worship was once man too or did you forget?

1 Tim 3
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Oh brother here we go again - twisting Scripture. You and I both know I Tim 3:6 applies to Christ, and you and I both know mainstream Christianity teaches that Christ was both 100% God and 100% man.

The above passage does not prove God the FATHER was ever an exalted man now does it???? What you have to do to prove that thesis is quote a biblical (not Mormon scripture) biblical passage that says God the FATHER was ever an exalted man on another planet who worked out his own salvation before He became God as the LDS teaches. And be specific, Book/Chapter/Verse.

If you are going to use I Tim 3:6 in a lame attempt to prove God was an exalted man (in Christ) - then you are going to have to suggest that Christ was not sinless and had to work out His own salvation because He was a sinner -- Is that it Resty? Are you saying Christ was a sinner who needed salvation????

It (LDS) just keeps getting more and more absurd....

U Said: No DU, Mormon Theology is just as much of a confusing mess as this polygamy nonsense.

I know you you wish it was and maybe even believe it is, the fact of the matter is it simple:

1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
That's pretty simple and that is our theology, you will undoubtedly want to attach dogma to our theology, but that's what that is, Dogma, not theology.

Theology is not Dogma. You may not know the difference, but I do. Just because someone uses words loosely does not make the words mean what they think they mean, it just makes them look stupid.

U Said: The whole doctrine of Eternal Progression that the LDS Church teaches (when it isn't denying that it teaches it) is intertwined with the whole idea of Polygamy.

Huh? Oh this is good, please explain how practicing Polygamy is necessary for for eternal progression. (It's not)

U Said: The whole three levels of heaven nonsense is also tied to the Polygamy nonsense.

Actually, we got that from the Bible, 2 Cor. 12: 2
2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
You should read the bible sometime, you'd know this stuff...

U Said: That is why a woman will get married for eternity to her Bishop when she is married "for time" to some ex-Mormon or a non-Mormon or an "Unworthy" beer slugging Jack Mormon.

To her bishop, ROTFLOL, no stop this is too good, do you also believe we sacrifice little children in the temple? I had a kid in the fifth grade who was convinced we did, he wanted to see "my scar" I pointed out to him that if you sacrifice someone, they die, (no scar) and people would notice if our kids went missing... he finally got a clue, when will you?

Really, hey my dad was a bishop, I wonder how many moms I've got , LOL!

U Said: She can't get into the Celestial Kingdom unless her Husband calls her through the veil with her secret name, and her husband can't call her through the veil unless he's been declared worthy and knows all the secret handshakes and was buried in the proper underwear.

Oh yea, right, um, what about girls and boys who die before they are old enough to get married? (have you thought this plan through? (Meet the robinsons reference) In actual Mormon Dogma an unmarried woman, woman married to an unrighteous man, girl or child, will be called through the veil by their father, if he's not worthy it simply follows the patriarchal line until you reach someone who is worthy, like say Adam... No one can hold over their wife that they won't call them from the grave as I've heard postulated before. (feminists always get really angry at the idea of having to wait for some man to call them forth. Which is anther reason I like it!) U Said: No, DU, the whole Mormon religion is a "VERY CONFUSING MESS" and you have aptly described it as such when you admitted that the doctrine of Polygamny that is still taught and revered and defended by the LDS Church is a "VERY COINFUING MESS".

Again with the fantasy world? Polygamy can be very confusing simply because people did not understand what they were doing (like the women who were claiming their children were Joseph's when he never slept with them and genetic studies prove the children were not his.) that can make for confusing stories, the woman who claimed to be a wife of Joseph's until it was proved she was never even in the same state with him before he died. That whole thing is a mess, polygamy is not supposed to b that way, but it was.

As for the church continuing to teach that polygamy should still be practiced. I will not attempt to prove a negative, but if you prove that in say the last fifty years and I will stop posting on FR for a month, otherwise, admit you are wrong about this too. and you stop posting for a month, deal?

U Said: I frankly don't see how any thinking man or woman can buy into all this Mormon nonsense.

It is simple, in addition to being thinking men and women, we also have faith in God and ask him questions, mot just our fellow mortals, then we believe God. It worked for Abraham, no thinking person would expect to have a large posterity if they were going to sacrifice their son (a highly symbolic act...)

U Said: The Polygamy nonsense is just the tip of the iceberg.

LOL! and the Trinity is just the tip of the iceberg. (It's so easy to throw around unfounded assertions with unsupported statements, but then no thinking person believes everything they read...

U Said: The rest of the Mormon nonsense is underneath the surface, but it is all a VERY CONFUING MESS. VERY? CONFUSING INDEED. Every jot and tittle of Mormon theology is a very confusing mess.

I am quite sure it is confusing to you. I hope you understand that most "Christians" don't understand their own religion, let alone ours.

U Said: Thanks for the apt description.

I'm glad you like it, if you are a thinking person surely you'll think my other descriptions are apt as well.

You were saying....

The above passage does not prove God the FATHER was ever an exalted man now does it????

But you don't believe that, your Trinity say they are NOT seperate you believe they are 3 in 1 spirit!

Who ever said Heavenly Father was a sinner did not Jesus say in John 5

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

Jesus would not know how to do this if his Father in Heaven did not show him!

Becomes even more confusing when you deliberately mistate Joey's history too (Is this another lie????) First you go for the Joey wasn't a polygamist, next you swerve into red herring stories of other wives - ignoring the documented ones he married, but he never slept with them - inspite of the biographies of those same women who make it clear otherwise. No kids, well fertility only happens over a short period and Joey couldn't live his second life for fear of Emma, and who knows, maybe Joey's little joeys just weren't that perky. Confused, DU's answers with conflicting answers, he lives in the state of confusion - probably has his own zip code by now.

this is how I have explained it.

The concept is something we accept and use in our daily lives.

A single man can be 100% a father, 100% a son and 100% a grandfather. Three things all that the same time.

not a perfect fit but it does encompass the one being holding three roles.

I Said: The Jews have a tradition that Adam had a wife before Eve, Lilith was supposedly created at the same time as Adam and was therefore equal with him, She left after partaking of the fruit and Adam stayed and was alone.

U Said: Tradition is just tradition. It's not part of accepted Scripture, the Torah and all. The OT and NT have been basically unchanged for thousands of years.

Actually, it's a little known fact that the Jews lost so many of their books of scripture that they went back to the septuagint (an old version of the Bible written in Greek) and retranslated the old testament into Hebrew. It is also interesting to note that not all the books in the septuagint made it into the Bible we use today. The Book of Enoch which was in use by the Copts into modern times is also to be found almost unchanged among the dead sea scrolls predating Christ, all the apostles and Jesus himself quoted from it, why isn't it in the Old Testament? U Said: The Dead Sea Scrolls demonstrate how accurately they have been handed down.

and much that has been left out.

U Said: Once the canon was established by the early church fathers, that about settled it. There's too much controversy over the additional writings that some accept and others don't, for my comfort. I'm not going to take the chance and run into error.

I understand you position and it's more logical than many here.

U Said: Does that mean that maybe I'm missing some truth? I suppose technically it could but you know what? What's in the Bible that we have now is more than enough for me to manage. I could spend my entire life in a monastery studying it and still come up short on all it has. I don't need to spend time on stuff that is questionable.

I would agree with you except for on little scripture in the Bible, John 17: 3
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
I am looking for that life eternal, and I have come to know God the father and Jesus Christ who he was sent more through the Book of Mormon than was possible through the Bible. The big bone Orthodox Christians have to pick with Mormons started at Joseph's first Vision, with God and Christ being separate beings, who were one in heart might mind and strength. This more than anythings else sticks in their craw, but it's important to know if the trinity is correct or if the Godhead is correct, our eternal lives rest on that knowledge. I understand the demands of time, believe me. I unlike some on this thread am an armature, posting in my "spare" time. I know I could never have learned as much as I now know in all my life without the help of the holy spirit, he enlightens the scriptures for me and continually brings to mind things that I had read and forgotten in a new light so that i am continually feasting on the words of Christ even as I concentrate on work, I would encourage you to seek this closeness which I Enjoy so much.

U Said: Could I be missing truth? Maybe, but after the lifetime of study of the Bible as we have it, I'd still be missing truth. It's simply not possible to NOT miss truth because I'm finite and human and God is God. There's no way to know Him in His totality. I disagree, when God reveals himself to you, you will understand what he reveals for his methods are perfect. However, if we are just studying him on "our terms" I would agree that we will never comprehend the smallest portion of him completely.

U Said: For the record, I think the Bible is complete as it stands and do not give any consideration to extra-Biblical teachings. I do not think they are reliable and therefore do not think that it is safe to give them the confidence that I give the OT and NT. Fro the record, I don't (earthshaking, I know for a Mormon to say) but I also have read the Book of Jasher, and the book of Enoch, I have attended every religion my friends had in High school, and I even graduated from a Buddhist monastery while I was in Taiwan. Religion fascinates me, and I read fast, so why not?

That said, I respect you for the honest and forthright manner in which we have conversed, while I would invite you to read the Book of Mormon, I understand completely if you do not feel you have the time. I invite, I do not attempt to compel.

I hope you truly have a nice day and may Jesus shed his light upon you and swaddle you in his love like a newborn babe in a blanket made by Mom.

I thought that was the Teilhard Heresy.

I had the following in mind:

As God Is, Man May Become?

"Although it is not found in any of Mormonism's Standard Works, an expression which precisely defines the LDS teaching that men can become Gods was coined by fifth LDS President Lorenzo Snow. In June of 1840, Snow declared, "As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become." Besides correctly illustrating the Latter-day Saint teaching that God was once a mere mortal man, this couplet also declares that man has the potential to become God! According to LDS theology, eternal life is synonymous with godhood. In the words of LDS Apostle Bruce McConkie, "Thus those who gain eternal life receive exaltation ... They are gods." (Mormon Doctrine, pg. 237)."

I heard this from the mormon podium many times. Perhaps Teilhard was the originator of the heresy.

Side note on Lorenzo Snow from LDS.org: Lorenzo Snow, fifth President of the Church, was instructed by the Lord Jesus Christ in the Salt Lake Temple following the death of President Woodruff. President Snow later told his granddaughter, "I want you to remember that this is the testimony of your grand-father, that he told you with his own lips that he actually saw the Savior, here in the Temple, and talked with Him face to face." President Snow taught the Saints to pay their tithing and that if they did, the Lord would bless them with all they needed.

The fact of the matter is that if God did not testify of the Book of Mormon, anti Mormons would be encouraging everyone to read it and pray about it, instead they typically try to tell people they don't need to read it and pray about it.

I encourage everyone to read the lies of the Book of Mormon. They then can compare it to the Bible, and see how the King James Version of the Bible was so plagiarized by the uneducated Joseph Smith (over 25,000 times).

What we are all about? Simply put we are all about spreading the word that God is not dead, he has not turned his kingdom over to men, that he lives and speaks with men on earth today that he will respond to prayers and has much more than is in the Bible, instructions for today, helping people be righteous today and that everyone can have a testimony of him and his work, all you need to do is Put our religion to"the test"

I did.

It was weighed on the scales and found wanting.

The rest of your post was this diatribe that white shirted teens in really bad ties use when they come to the front door. I find they quickly start staring at their shoes when you ask them any of the hard questions that have been asked by the posters I have also pinged in my response.

I take it you used to do this?

I just went and looked at your page... blank, so you appear to stand for nothing...

Now you are really getting strange on me. I let my responses on the forum speak for me. Do you really think the measure of one's character is how jazzy their FR page is? My gosh. Do you realize how childish you appear? I can cut and paste too.

Great! That just gives me more opportunity to testify, we get more converts this way than you would imagine...Grin.

I am going to give you a little bit of social advice. When you get nervous, you start with these Grin words in your posts. You come across as a chubby 12 year old boy who found his daddy's Playboy and is e-mailing all his friends.

I will say this though. You try in your posts. It is more effective than, say what Old Mountain Man does - which is leave insulting posts in people's FR mailbox accusing them of being a "DRUNK!" or a "GUTLESS COWARDS!" and then running away.

However DU - what you mostly post is span gibberish. Looooooooooong gibberish. Few probably read it - you just post too many words. Those that do are turned off by what you post.

But, please continue. You are making the point that the LDS religion is a cult.
