Absolut-ely Ridiculous Rick Moran Take a look at this map that Absolut Vodka is using in its latest campaign in Mexico and the US:
Now I have an open mind about a lot of things. But somehow, giving California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, and about 4 other states to Mexico because they don't like a treaty they signed after losing a war 160 years ago seems a little too much in the way of good neighborliness if you ask me.
The word is "reconquista." The open borders crowd tells us that this is a myth, that the issue of "returning" the American southwest and California to Mexico is a straw man set up by anti-immigration forces to scare the voters.
But as you can see, the idea is alive and well south of the border as well as in many Hispanic enclaves here in this country. And now Absolut Vodka has acknowledged the power of this idea by using it in an ad campaign in magazines, billboards, and posters.
I will not fall in to the trap of many open borders advocates and proclaim myself against all immigration from Mexico. I, and most rational people, oppose illegal immigration. Those who enter legally are generally more eager to assimilate, to leave the old country behind thus revealing reconquista the crackpot idea that it is.
Michelle Malkin has a roundup of links about this scandalous ad campaign.
Is that the actual map from the ad?
Dane replied - Is a vodka ad that much a threat to the Republic to you. If it is, then you are the fascist.
So your argument dissolved into a prepubescent "I am not, you are!" While you watched "The Jerk" did you also watch "Pee Wee Herman?" That is so very sad and it really has no place here.
Dane, I stated that your Behavior Sounded fascist. I did not call you fascist. Yet you can't help but call me names. You ought to know by now that name calling is against FR's rules. Surely you recall being suspended in the past for such behavior.
Perhaps you would find the DU website more receptive to your behavior and ideas.
And as far as being "threatened" by an ad. Miller supported an obscene Gay Pride event and ran an ad mocking Christianity. Consumers boycotted the product. The bad publicity hurt the company. We live in a free society. We can inform companies when we don't like their ads.
Oh, I don’t think you could call it a Hillary tactic to help a feller make a fool out of himself. I just want you to explain why if we’re not supposed to be commenting on it you start a thread so we can comment on it?
Dane - Uh to your mass media leader, michelle malkin, the vodka ad seems to be a bigger threat than al-queda is.
Dane, are you suggesting that Michelle Malkin is forcing you to post articles about an ad campaign that's meaningless to you?
Perhaps you should take a break from the internet, for the good of everyone!
Story of your life.
Oh noes, he's back on the Hillary rhetoric. I think I preferred it when he was stuck on "The Jerk."
My guess is some form of OCD. However; I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV either.
Well, shoot. Here I am typing my little FReeper fingers to stumps trying to keep the thread alive and everybody takes off. This is (sob!) the thanks I get? I’m just trying to help out here. Really. BTT.
I’m here.
I boycott Absolut for a different reason. It tastes like crap. If I wanted cheaply made vodka, I’d buy Popov, which was somewhat popular on college campuses when I was there for one reasons - price. If I’m paying $25 a bottle, make it a good whiskey.
I’m not positive about this, but I heard that over in Sweden, that absolut was under another brandname that sold bad because it tasted like crap. They then kept the taste the same, but had did some ace marketing in the US as a “premium” brand for all the yuppies in college who want to look sophisticated. Even raised the price. Hook, like, sinker.
I bet Absolut is laughing to the bank on this outrage.
Thank you for the laughs. ;>)
I have to go play outside now.
Oh, so the ad’s real.
Weren’t you just yukking it up a few days ago over FReepers and Michelle Malkin being suckered by a hoax?
You are so self-absorbed aren't you, just like your heroine, michelle malkin.
Anyways your little tirade has backfired and made you out to be the fools you are(i.e getting into a huff about a vodka ad and screaming like Chicken Little that it is the end of the world and/or US Republic).
Indeed.
That's a strawman. He said you started the thread, which you did.
But this is great. Now, I know you're only pretending to call us dumb for keeping this thing in the forefront of the news when you're soldiering on for Michelle yourself, so we'll just keep this our little secret, won't we? If I do run into her I'll give her your best. Man, you had me going there for awhile.
LOL! She did the work for Absolut giving them tons of free publicity.
Be back later, off to watch the UCLA Bruins beat Memphis State.
;-)
This is a cheap imperialist Madison Avenue trick to switch Chicanos away from their traditional Tequila, Pulque, Mescal and Colt.45. You gringos think that if we drink enough of this cheap hooch, we will dream of La Reconquista, but be too borracho to carry it out, be too broke to buy gas, and be too hungry and weak because it's made from corn, which should be going into ever more expensive tortillas.
Gringo, we don't need no steenkin' Absolut. BTW, tell that Argentine Art Director he's supposed to be marketing the product. He looks like he's been drinking it.
