Caroline Glick points out the Left is opposed to free speech. In particular, it does like the truth expressed about Islam not out of fear as Glick argues but rather the opposite - it wants Western values overturned to enhance its own power and to render conservatives marginal to the debate in Western societies. The reaction to Fitna and Geert Wilders is telling.

Yep, exactly. The Left finds itself compatriots in Islam against the freedoms expressed in the founding of this country.

Notably in the stealth candidacy of Obama. The Left has spent a lot of time excusing Jeremiah Wright's lunatic rantings but has yet to say a word about Islamist attempts to stifle free speech in Europe and elsewhere.

"The EU has gone out of its way to attack Wilders for daring to exercise his freedom of expression. The EU's presidency released a statement condemning the film for "inflaming hatred." Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende issued statements claiming that the film "serves no other purpose than to cause offense."

Have any of these idiots actually read the Koran and the sacred words of Mohammad? Where is the outrage over that filth which promotes the Allah endorsed automatic enslavement of blacks, The beating of women who diobey their husbands, or the confining of women to a room until death should she not do something her husband desires of her?

Where is the outrage over Islam's sacred "holy" books which calls Jews animals, the offspring of pigs and monkeys, the order to kill Jews, and indeed ALL "infidels" who oppose Islam?

It seems quite clear just who has infiltrated the UN, even though these Islamic countries don't even warrant membership to the UN in ANY capacity because of their UNDEMORATIC nature, a violation of the UN's charter.

The Un is evil and corrupt. Stop funding this evil.

So is McQueeg. What’s the big deal? No matter who wins the Presidential election, we’re going to have anti-free speech type in the Whitehouse.

Yes, and we’re going to have to do something about it. Hard choices but necessary.

By seeking to criminalize free speech, the resolution stands in breach of the UN’s Declaration of Human Rights. Article 19 of that document states explicitly: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”

Wow the UN obviously let this little tidbit slide in unnoticed

A worldwide “Fairness Doctrine”. Fitna should be distributed worldwide. Come and get me UN!

There are NO choices. No matter who wins, you get a Democrat in the Whitehouse (don’t believe the “R” after McQueeg’s name for a second...). You’re going to have a Democrat Congress (not that you’ll be able to tell ‘em from a Republican congress - except by what the spend the money on... and not always then!). Third parties are ludicrous.

Best thing do is hunker down. Put your money in conservative investments. Look for good sites to hide guns and ammo. BLOAT. Buy and stock ‘bug-out’ bags for your family. Work hard (the government needs your taxes...). And hope you’ll never need any of this stuff and can feel silly about it later on.

Not really. In that same treaty there is some garbage about if the rights or whatever are contrary to UN goals or policies, they don’t matter.
In other word, like most of what the UN does, the Declaration of Human Rights is a bunch of BS designed to conceal the real malevolence that is the UN.

I am truly shocked that the Israelis, who fought so hard to keep their land, will let the leftist pols give it away to their enemies, who have sworn to kill every last Jew. Even Sharon betrayed his country & got rocket attacks in return.

Liberalism is surely a mental disease or defect. But conservative acquiescence to this madness is immoral.

She is correct. The reaction to Fitna is just post modernism. They are re-writing the meta narrative of world justice to overturn the hegemony of western capitalism and democracy. According to the left, the rise in fundamentalist (radical) Islam is a reaction to cultural, political and economic aggression and as such is justified in their hatred of Western values.

This is the same philosophy that Rev. Wright is teaching the Black community at his so-called church.

That's right. Both radical Islam and the Left share a common loathing of America. And the Left looks sympathetically upon Islamists because they are the underdog.

It’s not so much that the left looks sympathetically on Islam as the underdog,as it is that the left interprets Islam as the under dog in the enemy of my enemy sort of way. They have just rationalized Islamists as oppressed by the west to fit their particular meta narrative. It’s hard to figure how the poor people of the middle east could be more oppressed by the western world, than by their own despotic rulers, but then you can’t rationalize irrational thinking.

The left does not believe in the First Amendment. It is the left which promotes the fiction that journalism is "the press" - which is nothing more than the notion that you have to have access to the AP newswire to have the right to freedom of the press.

The McCain-Feingold law was promoted by journalism, and for journalism - and for journalism's allies who join journalism in their self promotion via the criticism and second guessing of businessmen, the police, and the military. Anyone, that is, who takes concrete responsibility for concrete action.
