The ONLY thing I saw (from memory) that can go against the driver is confiscating the phone (which is my 5%), and that depends on school policy - where the school would possibly be liable depending on laws, statutes, etc. I don't know Arizona law at all. If the driver was charged, I'd love to be the defense attorney there. I didn't see any assault or battery, and the initial confrontation was clearly by the defendant.

I would NOT want to be the defense attorney for the bigmouth. I'm usually pro-defense, but not here.

“I’ve been tempted to post one of those “already posted” posts, to a post proclaiming “already posted”.”

LOL...*snort*. Good one. :)

Makes you wonder how their personal lives are going.

What have you got against the Mods? They volunteer to police the duplicates/triplicates/quadruplicates/etc. Why shouldn't comments about a particular story be centralized as best as possible?

The reason I'm saying this is because I use FR as more of a research tool and less of a chat room. It's nice when people take the effort to find an earlier thread, and bump it instead of posting a new one. It's easier for them, too.

I understand wire stories get posted with different headlines and such but still . . . and if you spend any time on the Articles page you don't need to miss a thing.

Well, bully for them. Too bad they can't be more consistent and less arbitrary in their policing methods.

One other thing: sometimes I leave a link to an earlier thread on a later one precisely because I want to read the comments on both. If people are so uninterested in reading other people's comments from an hour earlier, why are they posting comments in the first place?

Ah, I see. You probably posted a Britney thread and had it moved to General/Chat.

I can just imagine how their shorts get in a bind when their favorite TV show has a re-run. “Why, that has already been on here!!!”

Conversely, I can imagine their reaction when you insist on watching the same program on the same televisions in the same room at once.

"And for the record, why are so many of our young people so angry these days? "

Don't touch me, or I'll sue you. Mommie.

Ran into a kid skateboarding under a "No Skateboarding" sign outside a supermarket one day.

"What are you going to do about it", the smart aleck said.

"How about I smack you in the chops for your mouth and make a citizens arrest for breaking the law."

Kid picks up skateboard and vacates premises.

I can’t help but think that some poor lad is destined to marry this little harridan.

Hardly. Try searching and finding what threads I've posted over the years. You'll not find many, and those that I have posted have been found through research, and related to political or historical topics. None have been pulled. You seem quick to assume things about folks you don't even know. What kind of an effective defender for the mods can you be when you don't even do your homework before opening your mouth?

The prosecutor was right to charge this girl and not the bus driver. The bus driver was just doing her job. If she had let the girl off anywhere but school or home, the bus driver could have been sued, fired, disciplined, etc... The girl had no respect for authority or her fellow students.
I work in a high school and some of the students (a small minority) have no respect for anyone or anything. They think rules are stupid and don’t apply to them. And if you try to make them folow the rules, they call their parents- just like this girl did- and the parents start yelling that you can’t make their child do anything they don’t want to.

It all begins in the home.

Probably not, but you know, I don’t even think that’s it. I think there is much, much more to this than meets the eye.

Yep. Were she my daughter, after the spanking, I would drag her over to the bus driver’s house and make her apologize myself.

...getting her in deeper trouble, for contacting an alleged victim after having charges filed against her.

The bus driver would not have had a chance to file charges before I took a child of mine over there to apologize. Even if she did, I would stand before any judge anywhere and tell him/her that I believe in doing the right thing - fine me.
