Yes, very sick.

They do this kind of stuff in other venues too — like train platforms, etc.

Iran joined militias in battle for Basra

IRANIAN forces were involved in the recent battle for Basra, General David Petraeus, the US commander in Iraq, is expected to tell Congress this week.

Military and intelligence sources believe Iranians were operating at a tactical command level with the Shi’ite militias fighting Iraqi security forces; some were directing operations on the ground, they think.

This may be a fatal flaw on Iran's part, direct participation may be just the final justification for a US strike.

[This may be a fatal flaw on Iran’s part, direct participation may be just the final justification for a US strike.]

That would be a possibility in any but the Bizarro world we have got inside the Beltway right now.

Last word I heard about military reports to Congress was Pelosi warning that she wouldn’t listen to anything but the drivel that she and the rest of the traitorcrats have been spouting on the subject for the last five years.

Nice of her to actually put that statement out in public in advance, though. /sarc/

“’Head of Mughniyeh probe under arrest’”
By JPOST.COM STAFF

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Head of Syrian military intelligence Maj.-Gen. Assef Shawkat has been put under heavily-guarded house arrest following the assassination of Hizbullah terror chief Imad Mughniyeh, former Syrian vice president Abdel Halim Khaddam was quoted as saying Sunday.

Khaddam, who was a close ally of former Syrian president Hafez Assad, told the Lebanese newspaper Al-Mustaqbal that the arrest was made after Shawkat claimed the probe he was conducting into Mughniyeh’s death showed that the assassins came from Syria.

“Following this revelation, Shawkat was removed from the investigation which was transferred to [Syrian President Bashar Assad’s cousin] Hafez Mahlof, who mulled over who to accuse in the assassination,” said Khaddam.

Khaddam asserted that Assad therefore used the assassination to bring about the dismissal of Shawkat, his bother-in-law, and the appointment of Mahlof.

Khaddam went on to say that Syria’s attempts to put the blame for killing Mughniyeh on Arab intelligence services were “stupid” and “naive.”

“The Syrian regime tried to exert pressure on several Arab countries, to blackmail them and force them to participate in the Arab Summit in Damascus,” claimed Khaddam.

The former Syrian vice president noted that Mughiyeh managed to hide for 25 years from foreign intelligence agencies, from his associates in Hizbullah and from his neighbors. “During that time, he was subjected to Iranian and Syrian monitoring, so how is it possible that Arab agencies were involved in the assassination?”

On Sunday, Syria is set to announce the results of the probe into Mughniyeh’s death.”

Christian Priest Gunned Down in Baghdad

By Jeremy Reynalds
Correspondent for ASSIST News Service
CHRISTIAN PRIEST GUNNED DOWN IN BAGHDAD (ANS) — Gunmen shot dead an Iraqi priest in a drive-by attack in central Baghdad on Saturday, police said, in the latest attack on Christians in the country.

According to a story by Aws Qusay on the Reuters News Service, the priest, Adel Yousif, was gunned down near his home in central Baghdad.

Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly, leader of Iraq’s largest Christian denomination, the Chaldean Catholics, told Reuters that Yousif was a member of the Syrian Orthodox church.

Reuters reported that Delly said Iraqi Christians were shocked by the slaying, which follows the kidnap and murder of the Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul and other attacks on Christians in recent months.

“We are praying and asking God for security in Iraq. What can we do?” Delly told Reuters. “How many people have been killed? Christians, Muslims, Sabaens, people who have dedicated themselves to serving this country but they are killed.”

He added, “We are ready to forgive the people who committed these crimes for the sake of the single family of Iraq.”

According to Reuters, Iraq’s Christian minority has for the most part tried to avoid involvement in the sectarian violence that has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis since 2003.

However, Reuters said, churches and Christian clergy have been targeted, especially in Baghdad and the northern city of Mosul.

The Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul, Paulos Farraj Rahho, was kidnaped on Feb. 29 by gunmen who killed his driver and two guards. Reuters said the archbishop’s body was found two weeks later despite appeals from Pope Benedictfor his freedom.

Kuwait crime news

A person, identified as FA, and who was earlier arrested for possessing 50 CDs containing inflammatory material and calls for Jihad, besides photos of Kuwaiti fugitive Khaled Al-Dousari, will be released, reports Al-Rai daily. F.A was arrested in Khaitan a few days ago and was referred to the State Security.

Islam's place in the US brings cheers, jeers at Edison debate

“Al Qaeda, Hamas or Hezbollah or Islamic Jihad, when they attack innocent people outside of that occupied territories, when they go overseas and bomb and do things, whoever does that is a criminal...,” Al-Darsani said.

“Every country has the right to defend itself, and every people has the right to resist,” he added, but countered it by saying “radicalism … is well outside the parameters of Islam.”

Al-Darsani advocated for “an end of Islam-related labels to describe terrorists,” which he said makes American Muslims an “open target.”

Study examines psychological impact of terrorism alerts

According to George S. Everly Jr., a psychologist with the Bloomberg School's Center for Public Health Preparedness, "With regard to New Jersey law enforcement, we did not find any evidence to support the concern that elevating the alert status places undue stress on those receiving the alert."

Officials say Texas organ recipients caught TB from donor

The 46-year-old organ donor had not been diagnosed with the disease and had tested negative for tuberculosis six months before he died in June. A report issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about the case noted the man did have risk factors for the disease, including a history of alcoholism, incarceration and homelessness. Three weeks after the donor died, the Oklahoma Department of Health learned he had the disease.

A 50-year-old woman who received one kidney died nine weeks after the transplant, while a 23-year-old woman who received the other kidney has responded well to treatment for tuberculosis, according to the report. A 59-year-old Texas man who received the donor's liver has not contracted the illness.

Madera student diagnosed with TB

About 100 students and staff at Madera South High School will undergo testing for tuberculosis next week. Madera county health officials say the testing is only being done as a precaution after a student was diagnosed with the disease.

Chantilly postal workers test positive for TB

CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) -- Health officials say more than 30 workers at a Chantilly post office have tested positive for exposure to tuberculosis.

The tests were given after officials learned in January that a worker at the post office had an active case of the disease. Fairfax County health officials found that 32 of the more than 120 employees had been exposed.

Fairfax County health spokesman Michael Andrews says the agency notified the employees but not the general public because the risk of exposure to the disease was very low.

Lack of money hurts public health county official says

Restaurants, day care centers and swimming pools are going uninspected. Tuberculosis investigations have been scaled back. And only the most serious sexually transmitted diseases, such as syphilis and HIV, are getting the full attention of public health authorities.

That's the message the El Paso County Department of Health and Environment plans to deliver Monday at its annual meeting, where a lack of funding is expected to be the theme.

Well, it’s been a real long time, but it’s time for a little BRIEFING and CYBER HOUSEKEEPING Notes.

1. Yes, this guy made my interesting list this week.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1997390/posts

I thank all of you who sent me emails, freepmails and pings.

Needless to say, I support Israel via my prayers and my words.
It’s Biblical.
Period.

2. I do not speak or read any foreign language fluently.
If you have something you want me to read (via email); I will read it
if it is in my native language — English.

3. Conspiracies about Jews and slanted news events about Jews sent to me on
Sunday mornings is beyond irritating. Your emails made my weird files —
but from now on they go to JUNK mail. In other words, I didn’t subscribe
to your JUNK mailers, so take me off your list. (You know who you are.)

4. For new lurkers, all threats will be reported to authorities. This is an fyi
only. No threats have crossed my desk at this time.

5. NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. The Threat Matrix is open for all to read and post — so don’t be shy. Jump in.

God bless you all.

More than 25,000 people rallied Sunday in the largest protest in Pakistan so far against an anti-Koran film made by a Dutch lawmaker, urging their government to expel the Netherlands ambassador.

‘’They call this freedom of expression, but it’s freedom of aggression,’’ keynote speaker Munawwar Hasan, a leader of the main Islamic party Jamat-e-Islami, told the crowd. Wearing head bands inscribed ‘’We are ready to sacrifice our lives for the sanctity of the prophet,’’ they marched fand also burned an effigy of Wilders as speakers said their government should sever diplomatic ties with Western countries supporting the publishers of cartoons defaming the Prophet Muhammad. One Terrorist Killed, 22 Detained in Coalition Operations

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, April 6, 2008 – Coalition forces killed one terrorist and detained 22 suspects during operations targeting al Qaeda in central and northern parts of Iraq today, according to coalition press releases.

A close associate of a senior al Qaeda leader who attacked Sons of Iraq groups in Anbar province was the target of an operation in Baghdad.

Upon moving into the target building, coalition forces encountered a man with a weapon. Perceiving hostile intent, they engaged and killed him. Eight suspected terrorists were detained during the operation.

Also in Baghdad, coalition forces conducted a precision operation capturing an alleged weapons facilitator who is believed to have ties to a senior al Qaeda leader in the city.

Farther north, coalition forces detained three suspected terrorists during an operation in Bayji. One suspect was wanted for his alleged role in planning bombing attacks, as well as his association with weapons facilitation and assassinations.

Using information from an April 3 operation, coalition forces conducted three missions targeting the al Qaeda network in Ninawa province. Three foreign terrorist facilitators were detained in Mosul and six more near the Syrian border. Another suspect was detained in Mosul during a separate mission targeting an al Qaeda leader.

In other operations in Iraq today:

— Iraqi army rescued 42 college students who had been kidnapped by insurgents in southwestern Mosul earlier in the day. All 42 students are accounted for and are safe.
A coalition aircraft spotted a suspicious vehicle thought to contain the students after Iraqi security forces reported the kidnapping. The insurgents fled the scene after the vehicle was stopped. Iraqi soldiers detained one insurgent at a nearby house. Iraqi and coalition forces continue to search for others individuals involved in the kidnapping. The incident is under investigation by the Iraqi Security Forces.
In operations throughout Iraq on April 5:

— West of Balad, coalition forces targeted an individual associated with a senior al Qaeda responsible for extortion, kidnappings and weapons facilitation in the region. When coalition forces approached, the individual attempted to flee in a vehicle. The terrorist was killed when coalition forces fired at the vehicle to stop it.

— In Mosul, coalition forces targeted an individual allegedly involved in the facilitation of suicide bombers and foreign terrorists. Two suspects were detained at the target building while another suspect ran several blocks to a mosque. Surveillance teams followed him to the mosque where they, and the previously detained suspects, identified him in a group of people leaving prayers. He was detained outside the mosque. At no time did coalition forces enter the mosque.

— In the Sadr City district of Baghdad, Iraqi army soldiers and Iraqi civilians were attacked by small-arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades during a humanitarian mission. The soldiers were handing out water and food to residents when the attack occurred. They immediately returned fire. Two civilians were wounded in the attacks.

In April 4 operations around Iraq:

— Coalition forces used an unmanned aerial vehicle to confirm reports that Iraqi Security Forces were under attack and taking small-arms fire in Basra’s Haiyaniya district. They then employed a rotary-winged aircraft to counter the insurgents.

-– Acting on intelligence reports, coalition forces killed two terrorists west of Samarra. As the forces approached the terrorists’ location, the suspects attempted to evade capture by driving off a paved road and into a rural area. Coalition forces pursued them, engaging the terrorists’ vehicle to stop it. The driver was killed.
