I’ll vote for McCain (for our troops if nothing else), but I damn sure don’t have to like it.

A great many that stand accused of being mccain haters may well decide to also vote for mccain (with a hefty clothespin in place), however, if some who champion mccain here don’t rein in their rhetoric, that number may shrink for that reason alone.

The ongoing interplay here is typical of those who seek to enforce party unity yet are not willing to recompense those they seek to corral to their cause. It is nothing new. What is at stake is, but it also begs the question, what in the heck is the GoP thinking?

Freepers are a fickle lot.. and have been burned before and most will survive this latest conflagration.

Exactly. I consider his "cap-in-trade"/ global warming idiocy to be just as great a threat to our freedom as islamofascism.

Our only hope, IMHO, is to let him know loud and clear that he better be on our side when it counts. I'll give him a chance, but if I don't see results I'll actively campaign against him next time, even if it means voting for a dim just to get rid of him.

I'm looking at it this way: McCain is old. It is never too early to start planning for 2012. We need to start NOW, pumping up good people to run. I have a feeling McCain will be the next President, and the next four years are going to be strictly about damage control - - - hopefully in the form of total gridlock - - until we can elect somebody decent.

While I want our troops to have the very best support, since Mac's not serious about prosecuting the WOT, he's cynically pouring out their blood like water in the desert.

No one who wants to close GITMO, opposes "torture" of detainees, leaves the border wide open, wishes to maintain our dependence on foreign oil by opposing drilling in ANWR, wants to keep us in debt to the Chicoms by continuing our onesided "free trade" policy and wants de facto NATO support for an Al-Qai'da base in the heart of the Balkans (called Kosovo) is genuinely serious about fighting the War on Terror.

In short, MacCain is a whole lot of talk but no real action.
