Back in the early 70’s Ceasar Chavez came to speak at my high school. We had about 40% hispanics and when we entered the gym the teachers seperated us and made each race sit on opposite sides of the gym. Then Chavez got up and made a speech about how we should all boycot lettuce.
All I really remember is looking acrosss the gym at my hispanic friends and thinking, WTF?

today you wouldn't be allowed in the gym. I was down in southern Ca this weekend and most of the time I felt like I may as well be in Mexico. On the drive back north along the central valley, I could have sworn I was in Mexico.

I was under the impression that Chavez didn’t like illegals?
That it was a Union deal...
