Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Barack Obama is drawing gasps from pro-life advocates today over comments he made during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania over the weekend. The leading Democratic presidential candidate appeared to back a potential decision by his daughters to seek an abortion saying he wouldn't "punish" them with a baby. Obama's comments came in the context of off-the-cuff remarks addressing the issue of AIDS. (see them here) "When it comes specifically to HIV/AIDS, the most important prevention is education, which should include -- which should include abstinence education and teaching the children -- teaching children, you know, that sex is not something casual," he said. "But it should also include -- it should also include other, you know, information about contraception because, look, I've got two daughters. 9 years old and 6 years old," he added. "I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby," Obama said.

Well, he did say his "typical white" grandmother mostly raised him, so maybe his mom did feel that way. His father was out of the picture also, IIRC. Just sayin...
Obama has royally stepped in it this time.
He’ll anger a whole lot, a whole entire lot of grandparents of in or out-of-wedlock grandchildren.
Cuts across race, class, and political lines.
“My grandchild is a form of PUNISHMENT!!!!?”
Said Barack: “If my daughters are ridin’ dirty I don’t want them punished with a baby.”
In the last two weeks, we have had the publicized Wright rants and now this. These are two most telling revelations about a presidential candidate. Even more important than socialistic proposals, his character flaws run very deep.
This goes beyond being “pro life.” Any thinking, reasoning, feeling human being should be appalled by at this “punished with a baby” comment. He says that his own daughters are “miracles.” But if they were mistakes they would be punishment? He speaks of “educating” our children. Does he realize that it is Planned Parenthood is who is educating our society. This speech sounds like it was written for him by Planned Parenthood.
Does he, does the general public even know who Margaret Sanger was? I would recommend to anyone who doesn’t, to read Margaret Sangers Eugenic Legacy by Angela Franks. PP was founded with the purpose of reducing undesirable populations. Have we forgotten the horrors of Nazi Germany, and their desire for a perfect human race? Is this what we Americans have become? Is this who we want to be?
It occurs to me that some people will “choose” to jump if they are afraid that they will be pushed if they do not. If a woman’s “right to choose” is taken away, will it be replaced by forced abortions and sterilizations? Any thinking, reasoning, feeling human being should be appalled by the thought of abortion. And I think that most of us are, but we are afraid of people who appear more powerful than we are. We are afraid to come together and fight against this.
We have to have courage. Because if we become weakened by our fear of speaking up we are going to end up in the same boat as the Holocaust victims, and more recently, abortion victims. If we dont try to rescue them, who is going to be left to come and rescue us?
I guess it is no suprise that a man willing to countenance infantacide in the form of his opposition to the born alive infant act would describe a baby as punishment. But I guess that adoption or marriage would pose a threat to the legal rationale for his sacrament called Roe vs Wade.
