I believe such odds would be an unacceptable risk nowadays.

Enrico Fermi thought there was about a 10% chance the A bomb would ignite the nitrogen in the atmosphere And, just prior to the Trinity test, he took wagers on his hunch from his fellow scientists. I find that sense of humor appealing in a scientist. :)
