Wow. Emo music. I knew nothing about it; one of the joys of being 40, I guess. See post 64... Emo music was around in yours and my day.. and it was pretty cool stuff even then...

The answer is simple, emo attitude here in Mexico is anti-youngster: they do not drink, they do not have sex, they do not have fun, they go to concerts just to cry Sounds more like "straight edge" punk.

Basically kids suckered by another music & fashion style. As opposed to the other fashion cliques who are ganging up on them.

Couldnt tell the boys from the girls, all paper thin eating nothing Blame it on the damned BMI index that dictates a guy and a gal should weigh the same.

What was the Velvet Underground then? Or Joy Division? Or Patti Smith?

Whats an emo? Kids who follow a gene of goth music... that started basically during the 80's.
See post 64 for a example... though I never dressed or played the part.. I did love the music.

My daughter was a cutter. She cut her self because she clsoed herself off emotionally after a taumatic incident in her life. Thank God she is finally cured of that. Unfortuantely she replaced cutting with tattooing.

What was the Velvet Underground then? Or Joy Division? Or Patti Smith? Joy Division definately was emo in it's time... I never listed to the other two.. can't say...
Did manage to go to a Cure concert in it's day and the dress and style were quite simular to today's emo dress. LOL, being a country hick, I was probable the only upbeat dressed person in that crowd... I stood out like a sore thumb... but they didn't bother me. I never understood the dress the part culture of emo's... but I did enjoy some of the music.
Other groups I remember off hand from the 80's that could be classified as emo today...
Clan of Xymox
Cocteau Twins
The Smiths (Meat is Murder)
Wolfsheim
