“caring for the environment, preventing pollution, and ending poverty”
But these aren’t Christian concerns - they’re New Age agenda. Caring for the environment is common sense; Father sends rain and sunshine on the righteous and the wicked alike; the poor you have always with you; they’re all in God’s hands and it’s human arrogance to say we can control the climate.
I don’t understand how these aren’t Christian concerns. Certainly poverty is an issue we should be involved in, though we may never truly “end” poverty. (”The poor you will always have with you.”) I don’t believe there was any mention in the original remarks of controlling the climate, however caring for the environment and preventing pollution, to the limits each of us is able, is common sense. We are simply being called to care for the earth and the wildlife that God gave us stewardship over. To INTENTIONALLY cause damage to God’s creation is the act that is being called sinful. And I’m not saying one must never build a house or pave for a parking lot! There are many things we can do, though, on an individual level to take better care of the earth.
