“In our work with USDA and DOE, we have determined that we can produce about 5,000,000,000 barrels of hydrocarbon per year from easily recoverable biomass in the US”
I think you will find that transporting and processing 2 BILLION TONS of biomass is quite an undertaking. And the amount of organisms you have to grow to do the processing, will be astronomical (and expensive).
“I take it you also just watched I Am Legend.”
No, I have no idea what that is?
I am impressed with the work you are doing. The whole purpose of starting this thread was to let people know about such an important discovery. Obviously, I live in the same community as you and read about your project in the local paper. It would be a pleasure to meet you sometime. Good luck in your endeavers.
Doctor uses a modified measles virus to cure cancer. Three years later most of civilization is gone due to it mutating and going airborne, killing most and turning most of the survivors into violent animals who kill almost everyone who was immune. Pretty good movie.
Add water?
bttt
Yes. This does void the money-back guarantee that your boiling water is, in fact, very hot. Risky business here! You don't want people to put women and children at risk of being cold.
Is this the same guy who invented the talking Marcel Marcel doll?
If this is true and efficient, then I say build the plants and lets start producing.
J.C. Bell is a Freeper. Who would have guessed. Greetings from Tifton.
LOL..OK, I’ll have to check it out.
OK, that’s good to know — so which hydrocarbons do you produce? Are some more expensive for you to produce than others? At what price do you hope to become competitive with oil?
Why would we want to use up our own ultimate strategic reserve first, when everybody else is still willing to sell us theirs?
Curiously I was wondering, is there a waste by-product involved in your process and is it something to be concerned with? Or is the biomass totally used/consumed? I’m not a nerd I’m sure you can see. BTW, I sure hope your process/plans pan out. It would truly be a miracle.
Because it replenishes itself.
Oil is not a fossil fuel, the earth manufactures it.
As long as it is clear exactly how much we will benefit from it and how much it will cost instead of promoting as the end all solution.
The planet has been doing this process for, oh, about 4 billion years. Oil is being renewed deep within the earth constantly, by bacterial processes.
When we gonna run out of old dinosaur bones? LOL
