The Arabic word for camel is jamaal, which I believe comes from the same root as jamil(a), which means beautiful.

A Saudi cleric issued a fatwa condemning these beauty contests last year. Reason being that the Saudis are sick & tired of the people who take more care of their camels than they do of their families, & on top of that, lobby the government to compensate the money that they spend on camels.

That reminds me, I heard a euphemism for chameleon - jamaal al-Yahud. “The camel of the Jew”.
