The wiretap recording, made during an investigation of a prostitution ring called Emperors Club VIP, captured a man identified as Client 9 on a telephone call confirming plans to have a woman travel from New York to Washington, where he had reserved a room. The person briefed on the case identified Mr. Spitzer as Client 9
That would be a violation of the Mann Act, the transportation of women across state lines for immoral purposes.
Does anybody know if the Mann Act is still in effect?

Notable individuals prosecuted under the Mann Act:
Chuck Berry
Charlie Chaplin
Rex Ingram
Jack Johnson
William I. Thomas
Frank Lloyd Wright
Charles Manson
Looks like Elliot Spitzer’s name might be added to that august list...

"Does anybody know if the Mann Act is still in effect?"(Democratic) Congress in 1978 watered it down to "underage" transport across state lines, etc.

I don’t know if it counts when the woman clearly transported herself voluntarily. IOW, just paying for train/plane fare probably isn’t covered under the law.
