Be it a mere six million years, or 17 million years, the big question is, how could this be done here, but nowhere else?

There's more mystery here than the article lets on...

No it doesn't. The rocks, with their fossils, were already there before the river started cutting the canyon. The revised date for the CANYON age makes no difference to the fossil dating whatsoever.
