Terri Schiavo's Family Launches New Radio Program on Protecting the Disabled

Tampa, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The foundation that Terri Schiavo's family created after her death is continuing its efforts to help the elderly and disabled obtain appropriate medical care. The foundation is launching a new radio program on a Tampa station that will be simulcast on the Internet and later expanded to other Florida stations.

The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation will start the new America's Lifeline program this weekend life from the Tampa studios of Talk Radio 860 WGUL, a Christian station.

Prominent radio health care advocate Cary Hall will co-sponsor the program along with Terri's brother Bobby Schinder and her sister Suzanne Vitadamo, the foundation's directors.

Hall is also the host of a successful radio show called The Health Insurance Advocate which broadcasts from two Midwest stations.

"America's Lifeline is something we've wanted to do for some time," Vitadamo told LifeNews.com on Thursday.

"With Cary Hall's health care expertise my family's experience trying to save Terri, and now running her foundation which works to save those like Terri, we'll be able to educate Americans and raise awareness about the euthanasia movement like never before," she added.

Vitadamo said the program would focus on controversial cases of people who have been subjected to potential euthanasia or denial of lifesaving medical treatment, such as Lauren Richardson in Delaware.

It will help people learn about the best advanced directives for treatment, learn about the dangers of assisted suicide, focus on state and federal laws and explain how hospice care can be helpful.

The program will also delve into the controversial futile care theory whereby hospitals and doctors are more routinely giving up on providing care for patients they consider "too far gone."

The America's Lifeline debut is set for 3 PM EST on Saturday, March 15, 2008 and it will also be streamed worldwide via the Internet at http://860wgul.townhall.com.

The program is poised to expand into other Florida radio markets including Orlando and Miami.

I forgot who those posters were - hope they are no longer around.

Most of them are gone, but there are still a few around (plus some new ones who may or may not be retreads).

>>There is evil in the world. But there is also God, and He is stronger. So, there is hope.

That is why they emerge in Easter season. For two thousand years their father fought against Hope and lost big time on the Resurrection. They keep trying, though, and will lose in the end.

Most of them are gone, and best forgotten. The few who remain are bitter, because their only friends are gone.

If they want to win, all they have to do is turn toward God. Shall we pray for their brains?

Perhaps we should euthanize their FReeper accounts, after all they deserve "dignity."

I’ve heard them say “I wouldn’t want to be a FReeper if I couldn’t promote euthanasia.”

Do we need any more evidence than my word? Or is that clear and convincing enough?

Are you doubting my word? They said it to me in private. After their grandmothers died, and they were watching a movie. Nobody else heard it. But if this doesn’t work, then I’ll get my brother and my sister-in-law to sign up and say they heard it too.

Update on Marine JOHN GRAZIANO in bad car accident with Nick Bollea (Hogan). GRAZIANO is in the VA Hospital in Tampa, he had half his frontal lobe removed and he's got long way to go. He spends some time off his breathing apparatus. It's clear up to this point that both his parents although divorced, aren't planning an exit for John. They are planning for rehab and of course, Graziano won't be the strapping Marine he was before but his family loves him and want to care for him. (lawsuits against Hulk and Linda Hogan, against the kid in the other car owned by Hulk Hogan, against Nick Bollea.)

The only one not tarnished by the horrible crash is Hulk's daughter who has a so so singing career.

Update: Brooke Hogan has a blog and she's blogging about the emotional toll of the car crash. Sure, it's emotional to see your family split up and Graziano in such bad shape. Legally, nobody can touch her though.

It sounds like Brooke needs to find a church.

Adding to the links by FV, I found this about Zach Dunlap.

We have been criticized in the past for being tin-foil conspiracy nuts for suggesting the label "brain dead" may be another way of saying the doctors found some valuable parts to transplant. I am sure that was not the case here, I think. But it does make me pause.

Would the "brain dead" label have been affixed to him at the same moment if he had no usable parts?

................................

Wichita Falls, TX (AHN) - A man declared brain dead was found to still be alive four hours after, just as the family was getting ready to pay their respects and say goodbye.

The man, 21-year old Zack Dunlap, was found still alive as his cousin Dan Coffin dug a fingernail under one of Zack's own, causing Zack to pull his arm away and lay it down on the other side of his body.

The nurse, who was at the time already pulling him out of life support, agreed that the movement was not mere reflex, and alerted the doctors.

Specialists told the parents that Zack would probably have profound brain damage, preventing him from having an active and normal life. However, five days after, Zack was found with his eyes open, and eventually walked out of the center and went home.

According to NBC, Zack was pronounced dead after a head injury sustained from a November ATV accident that found him flying off his vehicle, landing headfirst and facedown on the asphalt.

Thorough examination and attempts at treatment done by medical specialists resulted in a lack of brain activity, therefore giving the parents the options of keeping Zack on life support, or pulling the plug.

"We didn't want him as a vegetable," said father Doug Dunlap. "We didn't know what he was going to be like. They said he was brain-dead and there would be no life, so we were preparing ourselves."...............

HUSSAIN B.O. Plenty... beyond Dick Tracy.

.....................................

And we don’t just mean abortion — though Obama has helped keep abortion legal in all nine months of pregnancy.

In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama went a step further when he voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies who were “accidentally” born alive during attempts to abort them.

In a recent debate, Obama said the vote he most regrets was his vote to save Terri Schiavo’s life. Her husband, Michael, wanted Terri dead, even though she was alert and responsive to nurses and family members. He had married again, had a new child with a new woman, and he wanted Terri dead. When a judge granted his request, Congress and President Bush attempted to intervene to save her life, and not just to save her life, but to stop the dangerous precedent. They failed. Now Obama says they shouldn’t have tried.

How quickly he has gone from opposing unwanted children’s right to life to opposing unwanted women’s right to life! History assures us it won’t stop there.

Obama not only opposes the right to life — he says ending it is his highest priority. “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act,” he told Planned Parenthood last July. That would immediately turn the United States into the most pro-abortion country in the world...................................

In 2005, the family of Terri Schiavo said no more federal appeals on behalf of the brain-damaged Florida woman were planned after a judge rejected an emergency plea to have her feeding tube reinserted. The battle had reached the White House and the U.S. Supreme Court.

On this date in history:

A slice of Seattle PI: As the bot flies gather to cheer in the tenth anniversary of State sponsored death in Oregon...

I am impressed how the left finds comfort in twisting words. Using "dignity" makes it all OK.

Thursday marks the 10th anniversary of the first death under the landmark Oregon Death With Dignity Act. On that day in 1998, a woman in her 80s who was near death from breast cancer legally ended her life with barbiturates prescribed by an Oregon doctor.

During the ensuing decade, the unique law has provided what supporters of the act deem a "safe harbor" from criminal and civil liability. That term means that a competent adult who has fewer than six months to live may self-administer a lethal dose of prescription drugs for the purpose of controlling the timing and circumstances of an imminent death.............

Oregon's death with dignity hits 10 years
