It’s still a great state. I live in conservative country in the foothills above Sacramento. Granted, I work downtown but it’s not bad here either. I get a big grin every Friday as I go past the war protesters at the corner of L and 15th. Bunch of ancient hippies, I can smell the patchouli from em now...

What part of the foothills? I live in Amador county, just about as conservative as they get. Except for the newspapers that are owned by sac bee, the people are conservative and prove it.

I envy you being so close to Lake Tahoe and the “Mother Lode” region. A couple of my favorite areas of the state.

I lived for a long time in Santa Barbara and, in spite of my annoyance with the politics of the Golden State, I would consider going back to S.B. if the real estate prices didn’t give me heartburn.

LOL! Until last year I had to drive by that willfully ignorant mess every Tuesday. I’d stick my arm out, thumb down, and boo. In a better thought, Thank God for our vets and our servicemembers!
