“’Jewish Agency attack spontaneous’”
By HAVIV RETTIG

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “The context for the attack is as yet unclear. Knafo has said he knew of no reason anyone would target his home, while Amos Hermon, a member of the Jewish Agency Executive and chair of its Task Force on Anti-Semitism, echoed other agency officials in noting the attack may mark an unparalleled escalation of anti-Israel campus activism.

“This is unprecedented,” said Hermon. “A Jewish Agency emissary hasn’t been attacked in America for decades, and we’ve never known a Molotov cocktail attack that came from anti-Israel or anti-Semitic groups.”

As a semi-official organization, the Jewish Agency is a “protected entity,” the security of which is under the purview of the Israel Security Agency (ISA), which coordinates security for Israeli representation overseas.

Agency officials, including Hermon, cite tensions that may have risen over the weekend due to a massive Jewish Agency campaign on dozens of university campuses and in hundreds of synagogues and schools in the US and worldwide to commemorate the March 6 terror attack on Jerusalem’s Mercaz Harav Yeshiva which killed eight students.

The agency has also received warnings from Israeli security services over possible retaliation attacks in the wake of the assassination in Damascus of Hizbullah mastermind Imad Mughniyeh on February 12. At the time, Israeli officials welcomed Mughniyeh’s death, but did not claim responsibility for the operation.

Following the Saturday attack, hundreds of Jewish Agency emissaries throughout the US and Canada were briefed on the event and its security implications.”

Forces Capture Terrorism Suspects, Seize Weapons Caches in Iraq

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, March 16, 2008 – Coalition forces captured suspected terrorists and seized weapons caches throughout Iraq over the past two days.
In Baghdad today, troops captured an alleged associate of an al Qaeda in Iraq senior leader responsible for terrorist propaganda. The suspect is also believed to be involved in propaganda activities and connected to various other associates of the terrorist network in Baghdad. Troops detained seven suspected other suspected terrorists at the same time location.

In northern Iraq today, Coalition forces detained five suspects during two separate operations. In Mosul, Coalition forces detained two suspected terrorists while targeting an alleged associate of several leaders involved in the city’s terrorist network. Another three suspects were detained west of Bi’aj, while targeting an alleged associate of a foreign terrorist facilitation network in the region.

On Saturday in Baghdad, forces captured two alleged accomplices of terrorists who make vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices. Reports indicate the suspects are connected to various terrorist leaders throughout the capital city. Intelligence reports led the ground force to the location where one of the wanted individuals was believed to be operating, and he was detained without incident. The first suspect then led the troops to another location, where the other wanted individual was detained.

Also on Saturday in the Tahrir district of Baqouba, Iraq, coalition forces discovered a large weapons cache. Soldiers of the 2nd Infantry Division’s 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team discovered rocket-propelled grenade launchers on the roof of a home while on a routine patrol. The rooftop is connected to another home where the Soldiers found a mortar tube, additional RPG rounds and numerous mortar rounds hidden a barrel buried in the courtyard.

The cache included mortar rounds, RPG rounds, RPG launchers, a mortar tube, an AK-47 rifle, and numerous Ak-47 magazines and rounds. The munitions were destroyed in a controlled detonation at a nearby joint combat outpost. The resident of the first house was detained by the Soldiers.

Since the beginning of March, Coalition troops have discovered several significant caches in the Baquba-area. They have also detained several known IED and suicide-vest cell members, including two suspected female suicide bombers.

“Coalition Forces in Baqouba continue to relentlessly pursue insurgent activity, continue to find caches and disrupt AQI cells, and will continue to detain all individuals associated with illegal movement of weapons.” said Maj. John Burpo, an operations officer. “Local nationals and our recent detainees continue to provide intelligence on insurgent networks in greater numbers, and recent successes are indicative of AQIs weakening position in Baqouba.”

Attacks against coalition and Iraqi forces and civilians in Baqouba, the former stronghold of al Qaeda in Iraq, have decreased by more than 80 percent since June 2007.

“Iraqi and Coalition force efforts to dismantle al-Qaeda in Iraq reach into every corner of the country,” said Maj. Winfield Danielson, an MNF-I spokesman. “Al-Qaeda’s extremist ideology and indiscriminate violence are turning away even its most sympathetic former supporters. A tough fight remains ahead, and we will continue attack the terrorist networks, increasing public safety and security for all Iraqis.”

Al Qaeda Document: Zarqawi Came to Iraq Before The War To Prepare The Fight Against U.S
Al Qaeda document | March 16 2008 | jveritas

Posted on 03/16/2008 2:49:59 PM PDT by jveritas

On February 17 2008, Al-Ekhlaas which is the largest terrorist forum on the internet published an Al Qaeda document that talks about the life of Abou Musaab Al Zarqawi and indicates that Zarqawi came to Iraq before the war to prepare the terrorist insurgency against the US troops. According to the document Zarqawi arrived to the Sunni areas in central Iraq. This document was written by one of Al Qaeda top leaders called “Saif Al Adel”.

There were many accounts about Zarqawi presence in Iraq before the war in particular in Northern Iraq with “Ansar Al Islam” an active Al Qaeda affiliated terrorist group that was present in the Kurdish areas of Iraq long before the war started. The document also proves that Ansar Al Islam helped Al Qaeda members establish themselves in Iraq before the war started.

The author of the document wrote that there were no relations between Saddam regime and Al Qaeda but this does not negate at all the most important fact that Al Qaeda was in Iraq before the war for the sole purpose of preparing for its most important front to fight the U.S and it is now in Iraq where Al Qaeda is suffering its most crushing defeat since its existence.

It is very important to note that despite the author of the document denial of a relationship between Saddam regime and Al Qaeda it does not mean that Saddam regime was not aware of Al Qaeda presence in Iraq. In fact the documents clearly points out that Zarqawi went to the Sunni areas in Central Iraq before the war and these areas were totally controlled and loyal to Saddam regime and it very hard to imagine that Zarqawi stayed and prepared his terrorist sleepers cells in these Sunni areas without the approval of Saddam regime.

El-Ekhlaas terrorist forum is a password protected so you cannot access the document unless you are registered there as a member.

Below is a partial translation of Al Qaeda document written by “Saif Al Adel”.

… “ We started the work and the contact with the leadership, and we began to support and help the leadership again, and this was our goal after we left Afghanistan. We began establishing the fighter groups. On one hand to return to Afghanistan and conduct planned operations there, and on the other hand we began to study the situation of the groups and bothers to find new places for them. After long discussions, brother Abou Mussab with his Palestinian and Jordanian companions decided to go to Iraq because of their dialects they can quickly mix and assimilate in the Iraqi society. Our analysis was that the Americans were going to make the mistake sooner or later to invade Iraq, that this invasion will lead to the fall of the regime, and that we should play an important role in the confrontation and resistance, and that this is our historical chance to establish the Islamic State who will have the biggest role in removing injustice and establish justice in this world allah willing. I was in agreement with brother Abou Mussab regarding this analysis. There were no relation between Al Qaeda and Saddam regime that is worth mentioning, as opposite to what the Americans are saying so they can create excuse and legal justifications according to their laws that they imposed on the world that is enslaved by the West, the Israelis and the Anglo-Saxons.

The plan was to have our brothers enter Iraq from the North, where the road is not controlled y the regime, and then go down South to the Sunni areas where we have some of our brothers. Also the brothers in “Ansar Al Islam” showed their willingness to give us any help to achieve this goal.

The Americans noticed that the Iranians were having a blind eye against our activities in Iran so they began a media attack against Iran accusing them of helping Al Qaeda and international terrorism. The steps taken by the Iranians had confused us and had caused 75% of our plans to fail. Many of our comrades were arrested. 80% of Abou Musaab Al Zarqawi group members were arrested. There should be a quick plan to arrange the escape of Zarqawi and the remaining of his group, the destination was Iraq and the route was the Northern borders between Iraq and Iran. The goal was to reach the Sunni areas in central Iraq and the beginning of the preparation to confront the US invasion and defeat it allah willing. The choice was not arbitrary but a studied one.

When he said goodbye to me leaving for Iraq, Abou Musaab has added a new dimension to his personality. This new dimension focused on punishing the Americans for the crimes that they committed in their bombing of Afghanistan and that he witnessed in his own eyes, the hate and hostility that Abou Mussab had for the Americans guaranteed to form new traits to Abou Musaab personality.”

End of partial translation.

The war in Iraq ended up to be the ultimate war on terror. On one hand it got rid of Saddam terrorist regime and on the other hand it attracted Al Qaeda to Iraq and where the terrorists threw everything they had to fight the U.S in Iraq but they ended up with an utter defeat and our troops have absolutely destroyed Al Qaeda terrorists in Iraq.

“Saddam’s Dangerous Friends
What a Pentagon review of 600,000 Iraqi documents tells us.”
by Stephen F. Hayes
03/24/2008, Volume 013, Issue 27

This ought to be big news. Throughout the early and mid-1990s, Saddam Hussein actively supported an influential terrorist group headed by the man who is now al Qaeda’s second-in-command, according to an exhaustive study issued last week by the Pentagon. “Saddam supported groups that either associated directly with al Qaeda (such as the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, led at one time by bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri) or that generally shared al Qaeda’s stated goals and objectives.” According to the Pentagon study, Egyptian Islamic Jihad was one of many jihadist groups that Iraq’s former dictator funded, trained, equipped, and armed.

The study was commissioned by the Joint Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia, and produced by analysts at the Institute for Defense Analyses, a federally funded military think tank. It is entitled “Iraqi Perspectives Project: Saddam and Terrorism: Emerging Insights from Captured Iraqi Documents.” The study is based on a review of some 600,000 documents captured in postwar Iraq. Those “documents” include letters, memos, computer files, audiotapes, and videotapes produced by Saddam Hussein’s regime, especially his intelligence services. The analysis section of the study covers 59 pages. The appendices, which include copies of some of the captured documents and translations, put the entire study at approximately 1,600 pages.”

Rules covering chemical trains questioned

The U.S. government's new anti-terrorism rules to keep chemical-laden trains out of big cities may not be enough for large population areas, critics say.

Members of Congress and security experts find fault with the plan that goes into effect this spring. It leaves it up to railroad companies to decide the best route around the nation's 60 largest cities for cars loaded with such chemicals as chlorine and ammonia.

Critics contend that the rail lines won't actually reroute the trains because it's too expensive.

Machete attackers not part of infamous gang

Investigators at the scene initially said the attack was related to the MS-13 gang, an international gang under investigation by the FBI. But Police Commissioner Ed Davis said the two are not members of that gang.

“It’s not the MS-13 we hear about nationally,” Davis told the Herald. “It’s more a local group.”

US security agency faltering

Snippets: A series of embarrassing incidents on federal property across the country, including the theft of a trailer of surveillance equipment from an FBI parking deck, is being blamed on budget cuts at the agency charged with securing federal grounds.

"There are 756 uniformed federal officers to oversee the 8,800 buildings" under the agency's watch, he said.

.....the trailer was stolen from the Los Angeles FBI field office in May. Contract guards watched the theft on surveillance cameras but did nothing to intervene and did not report the incident for three days, according to an incident report confirmed by the FBI and Norton. The trailer was recovered with some of the equipment intact. The FBI investigation is still open.
