Clinton cries foul in Texas; Obama lawyer hijacks call
The Hill ^ | 4 March 08 | Sam Youngman

Posted on 03/04/2008 6:35:52 PM PST by SkyPilot

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) campaign charged rival Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) campaign with breaking several rules in the Texas caucuses.

The Clinton campaign called an “emergency” conference call with reporters that was interrupted by Obama’s chief counsel Bob Bauer, who called in and said the Clinton campaign only criticized the caucus process when it was losing.

With Clinton facing what many consider must-win scenarios in both Ohio and Texas and both races too-close-to-call, the Clinton campaign charged that the Obama campaign had shut the doors on Clinton supporters at some of the caucuses, among other things.

The campaign also said the Obama camp had hijacked some of the caucus packets at certain precincts, adding that in others Obama supporters were calling in caucus results before the polls had closed.

Ace Smith, Clinton’s Texas campaign director, said the state party’s election hotline was jammed, and the Clinton campaign was receiving “hundreds of complaints.”

“This is just truly outrageous behavior,” Smith said. “It’s really disturbing, and it’s really undemocratic what’s going on.”

Clinton’s attorney said on the call that “all options are open at this point” when asked about the possibility of seeking a legal remedy to the campaign’s concerns.

Bauer’s presence on the call came as a surprise as he and Howard Wolfson, Clinton’s communications director, went round and round. Wolfson repeatedly asked Bauer and the Obama campaign to ensure that all votes in Texas are counted as Bauer impugned the Clinton campaign’s “attacking the caucus process.”

"I wonder how much of it is due to Republicans who switched parties to vote for her?"

Those who did won't be able to purchase enough flea powder to cleanse themselves.

Obama’s campaign is slick, really slick.. Do not underestimate this group if he makes it to the general election..

Hijacking the Clinton campaign call is just another demonstration Obama’s team is one step ahead of Clinton’s.

"If (and that's a big if) the exit polls are accurate, Hillary! has won both Ohio and Texas."

With precincts reporting so far, it's Obama in Texas and Hillary in Ohio. Early gaps are narrowing in both.

“I have hear this crap from disgusted Democrat college friends over the past 8 weeks: intimidation and cheating by ObamaNazis at every caucus.”

I worked as an election judge in Texas today. The Dems and Republicans voted at the same location. The Dems had 3 poll workers who had never worked an election before. They didn’t know how to do the paperwork or set up their machines. We helped them up and running.

However, an Obama poll watcher at the election was actually helping the election clerks—clearly against the rules.

Also, the caucus was a disaster tonight. I think Hillary really does have a leg to stand on in crying foul in terms of how the caucuses were conducted. Ours was held at our local fire station. The fireman in charge said he will never host the Dems again.

When my election clerk dropped off our information at the county courthouse, the person receiving the information packets indicated that they, too, were experiencing a nightmare. Paperwork not filled out correctly, security seals missing from bags with voter tallies, etc.

Per Houston Fox affiliate KRIV, there are "widespread voting irregularities" across the area. Interestingly, ALL of the precincts cited were solid democrat areas.

Let's see here....dimocrats...irregularities....
Wow! Who'd have thunk it?

Good gravy, can’t the Clinton machine folk come up with a single new complaint? These were all tried by the Left (albeit against Republicans) in each of the last several elections.

If this is how ugly it is in the primaries, get ready for a DNC brownshirt riot in November.
