Rep. Dicks’ name is an example of truth in labeling if I’ve ever seen one.

So hikers and park visitors can’t protect themselves from the Federal Government programs that bring back (re-introduced) wolves and grizzle bears? What is wrong with this picture?

Will he have opposition this year by someone who respects 2nd Amendment freedoms?

This issue will be the gift that keeps on giving. One of two things can happen and they are both good.
1. We get the ban lifted and Americans get more of the constitutional rights back.
2. The ban does not get lifted and its prevented by a democrat. Benefitting Republicans running for Congress everywhere and hopefully Obama gets questioned about it during debates.

More importantly, the letter continued, allowing loaded and accessible weapons in national parks would create a dangerous environment for millions of American families who annually visit our national parks expecting a safe and enjoyable experience not loaded firearms and stray bullets. What a jerk! National Parks are not the big city. Folks have been carrying in National Forests for decades without bullets flying.

In the Soviet Socialist Democrat Republic of Washington State, it doesn't make much difference.
A few years back, if you remember, we had apparently elected a pro RKBA governer. That was until Queen Christine and her cohort Ron Sims "found" enough "lost" ballots to swing the election her way. In...I believe...what was it? 3 or 4 recounts?
"Frustrating" doesn't even come close to describing how many of us here feel.

“Donkeys v. Donkeys, this can’t hurt.”
Agree for sure.
I have noticed that the Dem’s have been laying low this time around on the gun issue. I suspect that their objective is to sneak this issue by any pro-gun voters who may be considering voting democrat. Then, once they have their chosen POTUS in office, and with control of both houses, watch out. The anti-gun bills will be flying off the shelves. Also, we will see a much emboldened ATF, more Ruby Ridge kind of incidents, etc...

Dear Rep Dicks,
Please quit dicking me. I am a law abiding, duly CCW permitted American citizen who carries.
To get to our dental appointments, among other things, my choices are to illegally drive through Wind Cave National Park; or, stop at the (non-guarded) entrance on US HWY 385 and unload & stow my weapon, and drive to the opposite side of the park & retrieve, reload, and reholster; or detour around the Park, adding approximately 20 extra miles of driving each way...and repeat for the return.
Again, Rep Dicks, please quit dicking me!

“Norm Dicks”?? I wouldn’t show my face, much less attack American’s Constitutional rights.

I should have added the irony of being disarmed by the government at Mount Rushmore, ‘The Shrine of Freedom’.
That is another drive-through on both US & State Routes; park & visit are just optional.
Same for Grand Teton, in Wyoming, where I enjoy reciprocity for my permit; some with parks in Utah and other states that are drive-through rather than a destination.

The sheer idiocy of this guy is stunning, even for a Dem. The simple fact is that there are threats to life and limb in the national parks, from both 2-legged and 4-legged creatures. To deny the right to self-defense to those who have already been licensed to carry and gone through background checks and classes is absurd - if they cannot be trusted by the government, then the government itself cannot be trusted.
I hope that this guy has effective opposition, and that the NRA and other pro-gun organizations make sure that his opponent in November is well-funded.

Permitting loaded firearms to be carried or used within our national parks or wildlife refuges would be a radical, unprecedented change that would likely upset the delicate balance that exists between wildlife and park visitors in these areas, Dicks and Feinstein said in a letter to Kempthorne. It really boggles the mind that anyone is this amazingly stupid -- not just these two libdolts, but the libdolts who vote for them...
