Seems like a good plan to me (depending of course, on how they implement it). Diesel used to be rubbish compared to internal combustion but the new turbodiesels are much better.

I believe most of the limo companies buy older cars, re engine them and update the interior if necessary then run them for 100,000 miles or so. Much cheaper than buying new. Bloomberg will be putting most of them out of business with this, but then that’s what socialists do best.

Notice that the proposed rules don’t apply to private limos... So the bigwigs who have their own don’t have to worry about it, but those who rely on airport pick-ups and wedding or prom business have to cough up the cash for the more expensive cars...

Aren’t liberals fun?

So the limousine liberals are getting more efficient? What’s next, lowering the temperature on their hot tubs?

What a buffoon.

You ever talk to a taxi driver or a Cop about the issues maintaining fleet vehicles?

Example, early 90's Crown Vic's ate through brakes, etc.

Are these vehicles ready for this duty cycle?

These do not strike me as having the utility of cars they are replacing in terms of size. This like the energy bill is doomed for the law of unintended consequences, and may even open up the manufacturers to law suits.

IF the Mayor wants to go green, perhaps strongly suggesting converting the existing fleet to run on gaseous fuels, i.e. CNG/LPG-Propane would be a logical place to start.

Beam me up Scotty, there is no intelligent life (and no one with an engineering background) in New York City Hall....
