“I’m a conservative; I’m just not mad about it,”
Don’t worry, be happy...
I wonder if huckster is thinking third party?
Good article.
For many reasons, Reaganism, which made the GOP the dominant political party of the last generation, no longer resonates as it once did with the American public.Really. Why should people care about individual liberty and a safe and strong America? Those things no longer "resonate" with the American public.
A vote for Huckabee is a vote for the Democrat candidate.
a vote for Huckabee is nothing more than a vote for Huckabee. NO Republican will become the nominee before late summer. Now is the time to voice any dissent, disagreement, dissatisfaction, and concerns. I know McCain accepters disagree. But that's not relevant. They want support and above all, silence. McCain is not running a campaign. He and his accepters are engaged in an angry dictatorial enterprise to silence any who dare question.
I have spoken to many of his congregation, they have no such feelings where did you come up with the incorrect conclusion that Mike abandoned them?
I have spoken with many SB Pastors who served with Mike, went to school with Mike and/or have been friends with him for years, they hold no such feelings either. So I'm curious as to where you got such and idea.
Could be because it has been 20 years since Reagan, you have to be forty or so maybe older to remember what President Reagan was all about. Public school kids hear nothing positive about him, as a result how would you expect there to be a strong Reagan base today.
As for trhose over forty, take ten ask them to name five things Reagan did, and then be prepared to be astonished with what you will hear. Of the top of your head, can you name fove Reagan accomplishments?
Please be so kind as to explain how a vote for a Republican in the Republican primary can be a vote for a democrat.
Kind sir, might I suggest that with but two left standing, Gov. Huckabee and the rino, there are those who so hate the idea that a man who believes in Christ might come close to occupying the Whitehouse that they will vote for anyone, even garbage mouth mccain.
A quick look at mccains friends in the senate tells you all you need to know about why rinos love mccain.
Vote for mccain, get kennedy.
Vote for mccain, get kerry.
Vote for mccain, get finstein and boxer, clinton and barak.

Very good point!
This is a good editorial. The world has changed since Reagan and conservatives are going to have to adapt. I agree that Huckabee might represent a much needed current of conservatism that blends social values with a saner and more realistic foreign policy and an economic populism that encourages small business and is pro-family.
I personally can name most of Reagan’s major accomplishments but your point is well taken. In the last 20 years, the leftists have been in control of the schools and have brainwashed the little kiddies brains completely free of all such dirty concepts as individual liberty, patriotism and the virtues of the American Republic, both at home and abroad.
Not that those concepts are completely dead. Some of the kiddies pick them up elsewhere.
But they are nearly completely wiped from kiddie popular consciousness.
The leftist teachers have done their job well.
The only way to break through the fog of that leftist indoctrination is to have a strong national hero-figure who can possibly momentarily divert the kiddies from their deep pursuits of watching American Idol, diddling each other and text-messaging the results of each diddle.
I agree and can see no way that John McCain can fill that need. Mike, on the other hand, has proven his ability to lead, take the attacks and still stand without having to resort to profanity. Did we not have enough vulgarity during the clinto reign? Must we have four more years of prfanity in the whitehouse?
Mike... is a jerk.
Mike... is a tool of the NEA.
The NEA has worked overtime to destroy critical think in our youth.
Mike... is loved by the NEA.
Forget Mike.
He’s a leftist through and through. Oh. I forgot. He loves Jesus.
Well, some leftists love Jesus too. (Or at least profess to.)
“Please be so kind as to explain how a vote for a Republican in the Republican primary can be a vote for a democrat.”
Sure. That vote you would have cast for a Republican was withheld. That puts the Democrat ahead by one vote.
