Better than what? None of us know how the alternative would have worked out, so that statement is nonsensical, unless you meant to post that over at DU.
There is a price, whether it's $110 or $150 per bbl, where it IS cheaper just to invade an oil dictatorship and run the place ourselves. It's simple economics. If you are an oil dictator, bent on making money, make sure you don't rachet the price up to that unknown number.
