The problem with the Huckster is not that he's unelectable; it's that he already lost.
I know that the odds are against him, but what do you mean he has already lost? McCain needs to get around 70% of the remaining bounded delegates to clinch the nomination (I know the mainstream media, often considered McCain’s base, has spun the math in a bunch of different ways). It is most likely going to go into a brokered convention, and hey, Abraham Lincoln had gotten the nomination this way and I think at least another president or two. So why couldn’t it happen again?
Here are some numbers I saw on another post ...
Here are the bound and unbound totals as of 2/14/2008 .....McCain has 796 bound and 18 unbound delegates.
.
Now lets do some math:
McCain needs 395 bound delegates to reach 1191 of the remaining states:
.
Texas - 137 bound and 3 unbound
Ohio - 88 UNBOUND
South Dakota - 24 bound and 3 unbound
Wisconsin - 37 bound and 3 unbound
Vermont - 17 bound
Idaho - 26 bound and 6 unbound
Hawaii - 20 bound
Pennsylvania - 74 UNBOUND
Oregon - 27 bound and 3 unbound
Puerto Rico - 20 bound and 3 unbound
North Carolina - 69 bound
Indiana - 27 bound and 30 UNBOUND
Kentucky - 45 bound
Mississippi - 36 bound and 3 unbound
Rhode Island - 17 bound and 3 unbound
Nebraska - 30 bound and 3 unbound
New Mexico - 29 bound and 3 unbound
.
There are 561 bound delegates left of which Mr. McCain must win 71% of to reach 1191.....now when was the last time he won with 71% of the vote?
Now Huck will probably win Nebraska, Kentucky, Mississippi, and South Dakota.......if this happens, then McCain would have to win just about every remaining delegate, and that is not likely to happen.
Basically, McCain would almost have to run the board of the other states to win......not likely.
THE MSM IS LUMPING BOTH BOUND AND UNBOUND IN THEIR TOTALS.......VERY MISLEADING
So, as you can see, Huck is still in the race. It is not over yet. The media is lying to you. Don’t buy into it. Furthermore, McCain has backed out of a debate with Huckabee that was scheduled for end of February because he is afraid to let the public see Huckabee in action. In addition, McCain is running into possible money problems to finance his campaign due to limitations on campaign financing introduced into law by his own doing! Won’t it be interesting to see how the “straight shooter” gets around this one?????
If any of you think that you can support Huck instead of McCain - then make your vote count. Do what you believe and don’t give up.
